I STARTED OUT AS A DIGITAL DOWNLOAD STORE BUT… by accident. I had some extra plastic discs for disc bound planner that I personally did not like that I ordered from China, so I could not return it… I listed them on my Etsy shop and within a few months, they all sold out! This is when I discovered physical products, or where I feel increased revenue happened! And then ordered more physical products and accessories that went with my planner shop . I also started taking some of the digital downloads for Planners and converting them to physical printed products , realizing very quickly that people want to order physical products and not print it themselves at home using all of their ink… for some people they don’t own a computer or a printer at home! Selling physical products has tremendously increased my revenue even though I’m still offering free shipping across my shop still AND having a little bit of a cell pretty much all the time. I am though, however, and have been increasing my costs little by little each month So I still started off selling physical products what I felt like, was fairly low to get the attention and the traffic and the momentum

Hi, I just found your channel and subscribed cause I like that you are straight to the point, I opened my store last April and so far sold 20 items, I just turned 50 and have never ever designed anything with a computer before, so I watched a lot of KZbin videos and took it from there. I am doing this because I clean houses for a living and my hands can't take it no more so I 'm looking for a better way to earn money. Thank for this video and the other one on SEO, I took notes and will implement them in my listings, thanks again

Hi Nick, i opened digital download store (vintage paintings) a week ago. I searched a lot how to deal with it and what to do. As you mentioned former videos, every youtuber talks about crazy amount of money but i was thinking it is too competitive area so how could they make those number in few months😅 it was surreal. When i met your videos after all the utopic videos about etsy, it was so rational and honest to me. Thank you. I do exectly what you say. I decided three listings a day. I work with designer who is my friend 😬 i created a filing system and upload listing pictures there. Everything is prepared before i list. I’will be keeping following your videos 🤗 Please make more videos on digital download store 🤓

I watched this tutorial a couple of hours after watching your "How to Really Make $10000 in Your First Year in Etsy" and in that video, you suggested another niche to hone in on (which also lends itself somewhat to seasonal), and I'm going to do just that😊Now I just need to work out what type of digital items I need to start creating...🤔

Brand new subscriber. Also brand new to Etsy. Just opened my Etsy store and love your advice. I was in retail for years and so much of what you suggest applied there also. A full store is a better store, dump the tired merch., plan for failure, sell to the seasons ( a must, of course, in home decor ), make time to design meant keeping things fresh and new through displays, etc. also sell to the professions. Such great advice and really gave me a better mind set on how I should be thinking! So onward I go! Thank you. Will keep watching your videos.

These are all things I've been planning to do for the last couple of years... and keep getting put off or sent looking for another route because of "content creators" who make you feel you've missed the boat for doing what makes sense. Thank you for your informative video! I opened my first digital store this year right before Easter, I had no idea how many items should I list. I didn’t have much time for it so I had listed 4 items in 4 topics but I got sales after sales for 1 item, it is evergreen not seasonal though. I think I was just lucky as didn’t have any idea about SEO, not even had cover photo, logo of profile picture, not storytelling or finished filling everything in my store… but I did list 10 pictures and 1 video to show each of my products, described titles, tags, descriptions and good designs. Now I know better and learn a lot from your videos, I will apply those to my stores without needing any SEO tools. Thank you for your knowledge and experience which save me time and money… Just today I saw your videos as I was looking to subscribe to one of the SEO tools. What are your thoughts on combining digital downloads and POD together in the same store? I've seen in FB groups that they should be separate, but I don't see how that in itself is damaging my store. Isn't that what properly identified sections (store aisles) help to distinguish for customers?

Hi Beth, it is fine, but I would say to make sure you have a defined niche and sub niche set to do it in. I would also stay away from Etsy FB groups, they are not good for positive business mindset, and will confuse you.

Hi! Thanks for the no nonsense approach, much appreciated and subscribed. Two quick questions, had a sneaky look at your shop! 1. You don't offer exchanges, returns or cancellations. isn't southern Cyprus part of the EU. Would love to do the same (expat based in Southern Spain) but EU rules say that we have to offer buyers 14 days to contact seller to return product. 2. I have a physical product shop on Etsy and would also love to add digital products, is it OK to have both in the same shop? Getting mixed adviced on this one. At this point don't want to open another shop! Thanks again for all the no bs advice!
@etsyconsultant
@etsyconsultant 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jazz, thanks for your comment, to answer your questions: 1 This is just a boilerplate template, if someone in the EU wants an exchange or refund I will give it to them within 14 days. 2 OK so a few variables on this question, it mostly depends on how many items are in the store. If your item count is sub 100 then put both in your existing store to grow it, but if your store is large then you can open a new store. It's all about inventory, it depends how many physical items you have, and how many digital items you both have ready, and plan to have in the near future.

Hi Nik, I have a POD shop, but I think a lot of the principles still apply. When aspiring to 100 or more designs, is it ok to reuse designs in slightly different ways? For instance, my niche is sports parents. So, if I put a "Baseball Mom" shirt in my shop and turn around and replace the ball to create "Soccer Mom" and "Football Mom" shirts will that still help? There are some KZbinrs who also advise to take that "Baseball Mom" design and put it on a shirt, tumbler and hat. This feels like it doesn't really help test the design, but maybe it's about being able to do it quickly to see if/when one of those hit?

Hey, I have a question, I've seen two stores that sell digital templates, one is 13 months old, another 5 months, the first one has about 20 listings, the second one only 5, and they have an amazing profit! I wonder how did they managed to get that much traffic and sales? Was it the direct traffic from outside Etsy?

@etsyconsultant
@etsyconsultant Жыл бұрын
Hi Anette, and thanks for your question. So, 1 listing per day is a good speed for most Etsy sellers and does not "overcook" your Etsy store in the early days. Listing 2 to 3 listings per day in a new store is too fast, Etsy has zero history on the performance of your store and the listings will build up too fast without selling. The more sales you make per day the more you can list per day, it is all relative. I hope that helps!

What if you’re doing seasonal items? Won’t I not have enough items to compete if I only post one product a day? How should I handle seasonal when doing the one a day process? I’m hoping to create for Christmas but idk if I would waste time on a lot of products and then I can’t post them all in time. If that makes sense…
@etsyconsultant
@etsyconsultant 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Venisha, good to have you here. Ideally you want to produce items for more seasons, so that you are constantly coming in to a new season. You would adapt your listing process for this purpose, EG start 12 weeks or so before xmas season, so you have plenty of xmas items stocked, and then your next date would be valentines day, then easter and so on. If you are just wanting to do xmas and nothing else, then depending on how many items you need to list you might need to go a bit faster. One a day is a solid guide I give to everyone, there are always exceptions (within reason), that can work. Listing 2 a day right now on the shoulder of Q4 is fine, because of the extra traffic coming in to Etsy. That should get you up into the 60's by November. I hope that makes sense.
