Getting your preferred sound signature is like commitment. I used to like bassy / v-shaped sound signature I think my taste change. Now I am a fan of single BA sound, for me etymotic just sound right for any music genres. Most of it because I get used and commit to this kind of sound signature.

All I can say is "wow" this is an extremely accurate imaging IEM bar none and I have many. I loved my Campfire Mammoth and have been using it for some time, but now love this even more, it is just fantastic! It's fabulous, sublime, and tracks just comes alive, whether it's a live or studio recorded. Amazing, I found love in music again!

Well, it is true, the silicone tips, especially all two (or three if you're counting the grey one you can buy out of amazon) triple flange tips do rape your ear, until it gets softer over time. After some pain, any triple flange tips will serve you well, very comfortable, until it gets overly loose and decide to stick inside your ear rather than the IEM. One of the most horrifying moment with er4 for sure, but I managed to develop some technique to remove tips from my ear without a tweezers so I guess that's that. Based on my experience tho, the smallest one's the most painful one to get used to, but they do disappear in your ears deepest, and provides surprising isolation, after some painful adjustment period. And it's the most panic inducing one of they decide to stay in your ear. The sound, I love it. Or maybe I love this because I got used to it. Still, it never ceases to amaze me. Often times reproducing sounds that I unintentionally ignored. Granted, I do not have much experience with IEMs, se 535 for short period of time, se 425, and that should be it. Other listening devices, maybe some random headphones I bought when I was in my teens, and srh 440 which I do not remember how it sounded like. Tho, what I can tell is, it isn't overly flashy or 'exaggerated (in a quotation mark because every target has a different definition of flat)'. It's rather clean, light tasting with a vast detail. Kinda like sashimi, if that makes sense. Oh, and that fucking cable. I shredded three etymotic cables throughout my whole use, multiple chinese ones. And because of it's notch and weird placement of mmcx port, I ended up filing notched area, because I was finally sick of shaving off third party cables, when it didn't even worked well, disconnecting from the cable every fucking time. I do suggest buying angled mmcx to mmcx connector designed for er4sr/xr, which will cost you 50 usd or so in aliexpress. Angled connector and a sturdy cable will surely save you some decent amount of money. And it'll suit you better if you're planning to connect bluetooth tws modules or such.
@GodfreyMann2 жыл бұрын
Success! A crying baby and screaming toddler sitting two rows in front of me on today’s one hour flight were silenced completely by the ER4XR, and I was only playing a solo piano recording (Goldberg Variations). The downside is it’s so good that they’re dangerous to wear while walking in the street. They’re great in planes, trains, buses when you need to block everything out. Also good for protecting ones ears as I can lower the volume and still listen to audiobooks on the London Underground. I’ve had no comfort problems but they took time getting used to. They’re definitely my go-to in ears for sound isolation and I love the fact the music isn’t entirely in my head but there’s a pretty decent stage around it. The signature is leaner than my Arya’s (V2) but still enjoyable.
@bequanma5 жыл бұрын
I was disappointed at it first. But holly hell! After a months (or two?) with it i would say it's the best iem i've ever listened. The cons about this iem are on point. If you don't like the fit and the cable it will irritated you a lot. Also you have to clean your ears often because this thing go DEEP into you ear. I have ears infection because of this thing. ALWAY CLEAN YOUR EARS AND IEM PEOPLE! Also it has proprietary mmcx connector and silicon eartips so it's not easy or cheap to replace these accessories. But if you want a awesome iem (depend on your music preference) i think it will be the last iem you will ever buy. Unless it broke or something and you have t fork out $300 for new or $200 used with disgusting eartips. Also i use it with hidizs sonata so it fit my sound preference better. And i almost forgot about it, if you buy used er4xr, be careful cause sometime the eartips will stuck inside your ears. So insert it not too deep and use your finger + fingernail on the eartips to get it out.

@hippopilot67502 жыл бұрын
I would recommend for settings where you might need to remove them often or if you're sick of deep insertion but don't want to use foams to shell out for custom fit tips. They don't go as deep (still deep tho) as the triple flange so the sound and isolation won't be as perfect and you'll have a noise floor of your ears' circulation (still better than a shallow IEM's) but you get isolation fitted exactly to your ear and they're better than foams in both regards. Your insurance might even cover getting the moulds from an audiologist. I'd especially recommend it for the er4xr since a better seal and slightly shallower fit tend to be better for bass at the cost of some high end, but the bass could be too muddy at deep insertion depth anyway. If you had the SR, triple flange in the proper deepness is really the only optimal setup and imo better than XR triple flange. A shallower fit for the SR loses the bass as the roll-off is designed to be canceled out in a deeper insertion/isolation and also the high end won't be exact so you get the worst of both worlds.

I bought a ER2XR last week and compared to my ER4S, the predecessor of ER4SR/XR. I think the sound of ER4S is neutral and clean, but the ER2XR is better for casual. Btw, I don't need to plug the ER2XR into my canal as deep as ER4S, so the former is more comfortable

BTW great video, I see your quality getting better and better which is amazing. Honestly $350 for a pair of in ears isn't cheap indeed. But usually 70% of the cost is just tuning and the tuning these have make them great for studio and reference use getting them to the level of U12t by which costs $2,000. only lacking the imaging. For the tuning I think they're amazing. I'm not saying they're like the U12t, but they're great for a starting studio on a small budget. Also talking about the cable length. Considering these are targeted at studio, the amps in studios are actually far so it's useful

i have these for a few months now and they are the best iems i have ever heard. to me its like an iem version of the hd600 but with better treble and deeper subbass. A little uncomfortable at first but i got used to it. Im lucky i dont have much earwax so thats not really a problem. Now i can wear them for hours. The isolation is very good so you can really sink into the music with these even in public. I mostly listen to rock music like paramore and avril lavigne and i think the etymotics present everything in a very balanced way. The mids are slightly forward which makes the vocals very clear and powerfull (without any sibilance). Allthough i think the tuning is almost perfect i dont always want that ''extra'' bass. So sometimes i use eq to make them sound more like what the sr is supposed to be like. I would like to hear that one in person to compare. I think they would be slightly clearer.

But all the buzz about these new batches of IEM coming from China got me curios. Holy hell! I really thought I had a handle on what a good pair of IEM's sounded like. But that view has changed drastically now I have listened to the TRN V80's for the last 4 hours. They sound crazy good. Bass is so tight it makes me shiver. So much clean sound coming into my head I was overwhelmed at times. Anyway how a $300 IEM can sound over 7 times better then the TRN's for the price is beyond me. I'm not into this "acurate" sound.. if you work in a recording studio then you probably need speaker's & headphone's that are perfectly tuned for acuracy... I personally need more dynamic, spacier, wide sound stage, and a little bit more warmish sound... right now at the moment my favorite iem is the Sony EX1000... I've found the perfect tip's that give a good seal.. but taste's are different and that's good 🙂👍

I'm not liking a cable that's not replaceable - especially at that price. The isolation is BIG bonus though.

@@mreq123zacier Oh, ok, didn't realise it had that, it just doesn't look like a standard removable cable and he failed to mention that. Thanks for the info.

Yeah this cable is replaceable. I'm not sure if it would work with any MMCX or only Ety's -- its fitting is pretty unique, even though it's MMCX.

Please don't recommend this iem whose accuracy is depend on deep insertion... They are not that great. Use Sony Ericsson MH1 headset inside.. most accurate sound design ed by sound engineer
@SuperReview4 жыл бұрын
That's a pretty annoying way to state an opinion homie.
@gullibleskeptic32374 жыл бұрын
not to mention the fact that the deep insertion is what makes them so accurate in the first place because it doesnt change with differend ears. i have both er4xr and sony mh1 and while the sonys sound pretty nice and natural they are for sure not as accurate. they have too much subbass to be considered "neutral''.
@vijendrachejara50604 жыл бұрын
@@gullibleskeptic3237 probably you have inserted deep the mh1. Use bigger tips and it just have to sit in front of ear cannal. Also you can reduce the sub bass around 10db by blocking the back part of earbud along with pin hole.. that's make it flat sounding accurate iem.
@gullibleskeptic32374 жыл бұрын
@@vijendrachejara5060 i use the standard medium sized tips with shallow insertion but dont get me wrong, i like them a lot only the bass is too much for the music i listen to (mostly rock like paramore for example). Im aware of the mod you described so i ordered a 2nd pair to try it on. I found out about these through oluvs gadgets btw like many others i think;)
