I tend to be more aggressive towards Muscovy. You can ally and curry favors with Poland after the independence, attack Novgorod and take as much land as possible, then right off the bat attack Muscovy with Poland's help. Crippling them early means that the whole area is essentially free real estate. You should also take the island next to Scotland in the independence war. Also don't delete the fort in Lund as it is very useful for trapping armies crossing the strait.

As Sweden, if your ruler has at least 5 military skill, you will get the event "The Military Reforms of Gustavus Adolphus" which lets you pick an option that gives you -10% infantry cost and +5% land morale for the rest of the game, making your Swedish space marines slightly more space marine-ier

They usually dont get enough transports together to defeat your army on the landing. If you take most of the Manchurian land (leave the coasts till last so the Japanese cant land there) you should have a big enough power base to resist them.

Was a bit of a struggle for me to get that nation going. But I suggest trying to get rid of the estate thing that makes it near-impossible to expand asap. Then go into Manchuria. Spawn institutions in your heartland (which is cheap to dev up). I went for quantity + economy to make deving even cheaping and give me a sizeable army to fight Ming with. Japan never bothered me until I already had Manchuria and some parts of northern China. But yeah, get rid of the estate thing, stay as a tributary, and expand into Manchuria. Then look for an opportunity to take on Ming.

@@methodkid93 I don't remember Korea that well, but I remember it having a crap ton of negative events/disasters and, in order to get rid of them, you have to dev up a few provinces (among other things), so inwards perfection (I think that's the estate privilege's name) could be revoked later to help end those events sooner, right? I'm merely speaking by memory, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

@@willbow1304 Yeah I think some of the things involved deving up all heartland provinces to a minimum of 10 or so? I can't recall those events being too annoying though. I found the inability to expand early to be more of a hindrance. Since you wanna get strong quickly so you're prepared to take on Ming when an opportunity presents itself.

I'd honestly say lowering autonomy would be highly recommended during peace as it boosts manpower and income and helps deal with rebels which raises army tradition.

@@arcamean785 Not really. They'll pop up once or twice and the second go you can probably keep them from spawning, and I've already got heaps of people to kill outside my borders. If the rebels aren't separatists they bring the autonomy up again unless you're a fort pro and keep armies around in your whole empire just to deal with the rebels. I don't really want to spend a bunch of birds solving a problem I don't need to create. Or is the bonuses from being of my main cultures really worth it? I've done increasing autonomy to stop rebels, and now I've done lowering autonomy everywhere, honestly I struggle to see how lowering is worthwhile after the first few years where you really need every advantage you can get

Alternatively you could also strike right when Denmarks army defeated the rebels. Their damaged units will get crushed fighting your full units. Use the Halberd infantry for this. You can even stackwipe them. This has the advantage that you can siege down Gotland and take it without having to fight Denmarks whole army on a D-Day assault. Which is very costly not only because you got to build transports, it also hurts your manpower alot. Gotland is not only a core with swedish culture, its also a trade center in the baltics which is important for your eco.

id suggest making norway and novgorod into vassals imo. Taking the age buff for half transfer allows for you to war denmark and then get all of norway in 1 simple war. Novgorod also has lots of free cores. just annex them and release them to get them a duchy government to rm them

If you want to avoid the independence war with Denmark, choose start date of November 1449! You start independent and with Norway as PU!

Important to note that if you are a starting a new save with a nation that isn’t Sweden, try to get 800 age splendor as soon as possible, and select the claims bordering claims and 50% transfer subjects peace deal interaction. Snake your claims from sea tiles or land to get to Denmark asap. This can get you Sweden as a vassal for only around 80% war score. After about 15 years, you can then transfer Norway as a vassal, that’s a free colonizer and a buff military vassal for your campaign. Huge bonus, and I love to do it as nations like Spain France Austria(especially OP for imperial authority) England and Muscovy.

The experimental patch has severely increased the debuffs for not having enough crownland. So the current go-to of getting the +1 mana for each estate at the start of the game won't really be viable soon. Assuming they keep that change, of course...

The game is roughly 377 years times by 12 for the months would be 4524 monarch points in a single category if you choose to activate it at the start 13572 total extra points for the whole game if you choose to run low crownlands for the ~30 years of revoking crownlands

I just did my run for the Lion of the north and Sweden is not overpowered achievements like 2 weeks ago, managed to win the religious league war with the Commonwealth being the only other notable nation on my side (England was on my side but did nothing but sit on their island), while the catholics had the Ottomans, France, Spain, Portugal, Austria and Muscovy. Swedish space marines really are a different breed in this game

Did the new patch change a few things there? You dont seem to get spawned 2 additional rebel stacks next to the Danish Lund province, I got those always (made my war longer and costlier). Poland also doesn't want to join my war against Teutonic Order with the land promise, while that was a case in your game...

One thing you can do is mark all Teuton land except kulm as vital interest then in the peace deal give kulm to Poland and they'll be satisfied enough, i do the same scam with brandenburg

I like to show strength or humiliate+money on novgrod while muscovy attacks them after the first danish war and let muscovy take whatever they want, and in their last war vs novgrod either vassalize them during the muscovy war to inherit their defence war to get all your allies vs muscovy or vassalize whats left and use favors to defeat them, then you can reconquest alot of muscovy using novgrod cores(they have more then what they start with too), also having novgrod as a vassal gives you more trade power due to their ideas and divert trade, and you dont have to deal with the religion. just did it in a very hard game using lithuania, poland and england as allies. im a great power and earn the most ducats per month in the world with the land you have but norway as a vassal and also a huge novgrod vassal with all of the novgrod centers of trade by 1500 also i started with innovative then offensive ideas for quick sieges. and taking gotland in the first independance war makes you get some nice perma claims from missions, def reccomend. you dont need to siege it down

I had alliance and royale marriage between France and Muscovy and halfway I got lucky succession war on Muscovy with France as my attacker which was an easy win since France had long way to attacking my PU Muscovy but I also kept good relations with France later for Protestant League War. This was also lucky for me when winning pre-Protestant League war attacking Austria and other Catholic nations. In my late game I had only 2 provinces left for the achievement which my PU Muscovy had and at the time Ottomans attacked me once which I peaced out giving few lands but second time I willingly gave up PU on Muscovy the broke truce with Muscovy to take remaining provinces for Sweden is not overpowered.

I think it is a bit of a play mistake not to strike at Scotland as soon as you can. Especially if they are as well as they are this game. England will never be a threat if you have a Standing army on the island. You can slowly conquer them with minimal continental aggressive expansion. You also get the English Channel Trade node.

Every trade good has modifiers that affect the price, ideally you want to focus on the goods valued at 3.0 or more in the game then focus on the less valued trade goods like grain and cows. That being said I always like devving one of the provinces with spare diplo points and building a manufacture and workshop there for some okay early game extra income.

Why do you delete forts on crossings? I think it's better as a defensive mechanic to let forts hold enemies at tight spots so you have more control and defensive buffs.

In the first war against Denmark, you should get independence, war reps and all the money you can get. Then put them as rivals and in the second war you should humiliate them and take skane region and gotland. By the third war you should have enough splendour to get the transfer subjects ability and take control of Norway in the third war. Once age of reformation starts you should just conquer denmark outright and move trade capital to the danish capital for all that sweet Lubeck trade node money.

Last I checked, Norway builds forts in Finnmark and Bahuslen. Taking those provinces is good so that occupying Norway is easier in the future. And taking one province to border the Teutons is nice as well.

​@@montanan5130 honestly its a waste of adm points, especially since you want to reach adm tech 7 asap and get two ideas going. Take a mil idea first (quantity or offensive) and then take a dip idea (diplomatic). Transfer subjects take 200 dip points but then you don't really need to use those dip points for much else at the beginning so its fine.

Thank you for your quality content. Although I can’t see why Sweden's military should be superior to Prussia’s. Prussia militarization of the state gives +10% discipline bonus. Not really important in late game, but Sweden also don’t get any morale bonuses - I guess you meant the boni from ideas and policies? Every other nation can get those boni too. Yes, Sweden's army is very strong. But I guess your vid-title is just not true. Another question according the first government reform. Why is it so obvious to pick the „Strenghten the Noble Privileges“? I'm playing a Brandenburg to Prussia campaign on very hard atm, and I found the +10% tax bonus very useful early game. Of course I switched to Noble Privileges when I was about to reach maximum manpower and didn’t need the +10% tax bonus anymore. Thanks and stay safe, alex.

I think you're high as a kite saying that Swedish units are stronger than Prussians. They both get 20% inf combat and 5% discipline in their national ideas. Prussia gets 20% morale and -1% tradition decay (which gets you more morale and better generals) for which Sweden then gets +1 LL shock. But prussia also gets their gov form, which grants another 10% discipline. So choose between 20% morale, and 10% discipline, or +1 LL shock. I know what I'm going for. Edit: Oh forgot to mention, Sweden also gets +1 mil policy. So if you took 4 mil idea groups (Aristo, defensive, offensive, quality for max army quality), it means that sweden also can get another +1 LL fire or whatever, based on your other idea groups.
