After getting independent (ideally with the help of Austria), move your capital to Venice proper and join the HRE. Nice and smooth Italian campaign. Then wait for RNG to screw over an otherwise enjoyable game.

The player does things way different than the cpu does. This means that the nations close to you are reacting more to you than ones further away. It's why when you play NEAR certain nations, they have super weird games compared to normal. It all ripples out from you.

Karelia is fun! BTW, It's easier switching to Catholic for the early game. I always thought it was funny how the enemy keeps enters your lands thinking, "time to occupy the Karelian home land!." And the Karelians are like, "Okay have fun sitting out in the middle of nowhere on dev 3 forests."

I played Teutonic Order a few weeks ago and Muscovy also allied the Ottomans in that game. Thankfully Austria had gotten Hungary early, preventing them from expanding too much in the Balkans, so we were able to beat them.

As Corfu control and occupy all islands in the Mediterranean? Quite challenging because of Aragon (Sicily and Sardinia), Mamluks (Cyprus), Venice (Venice area, Aegean sea holdings), HRE (Genoa/Corsica), Tunis (Djerba) and probably Ottomans. Good Luck

He has a truce with Novgorod : when you release a vassal, there's a five year truce between the two countries, so he couldn't declare immediately. It's slightly different when you start with a country that is already a vassal (like Mazovia) because there is not that truce that blocks you for five years.
