I think if the defenders win all 5 tricks they get 4 points. I think that's missing from the scoring slide. I got into Euchre half a year ago through a local meetup group and now it's one of my favorite card games! Great video!

Agreed it’s a great social game. I’m aware of the 4pt defender sweep variant, however to keep the video to the basics I left out house rules and stuck to the most official and established sources which don’t include that house rule. But if you enjoy playing that way, don’t stop, and thanks for sharing it here. It’s a good reward for strong Defenders!

You’re very welcome. We all call them clubs, yet it’s a semantic relic, since the French turned the clubs suit into clovers several hundred years ago. I’m just doing my pointless part to be accurate 😂

I did try Euchre before, but I didn't understand the point system so i passed 😩 thanks to this video it helps me to understand the rules 👍❤️ currently i am into Scopa, the game is easy to understand but is quite challenging and interesting. Seems like an interesting game, like Bridge but simpler and maybe more exciting. Also a lot like Tarot/Tarock. Can highly recommend a French Tarot video as another commenter suggested! I've had fun getting into it and there's a good mobile app available for practice.

This is spooky: I quite nearly recommended euchre for you to do a video on as it felt like you were running out of games 😅. Any how, I don’t believe you’ve made videos on *French Tarot* (easily my preferred trick taking game (also see FFT - Fédération Française de Tarot)), *500* (another trick taking game, perhaps too similar to euchre) or *100* , a simple game for kids or the inane. Thanks for the video, I’d been planning to learn euchre for quite some time now.

My family usually plays dump the dealer where the dealer must call trump the second time around. Its also a good way to learn how to play out more mediocre hands.

I don't get the "I care" comment. Speaking of dealing I have a question. I looked up the rules to euchre according to hoyle and it says nothing about how one is to deal. Here is the reason I ask this question. I play once a week and there is this one lady who insists that everyone deals like you presented: 2 cards each followed by three cards each. Well, sometimes I like to deal 2-2-1. She has a fit and wants to call a miss deal. My dad was a very good card player referencing many different card games (euchre not one of them). He always said unless the official rules of the game indicate a specific way to deal the cards then the dealer can choose how to deal so long as everyone gets the correct number of cards in their hand. Would you care to comment?

Thanks for the comment. In fact the earliest versions of Euchres rules instruct the cards are dealt in packets of 2/3, likely another nod to its German origins. Your friend is correct in principle but sounds inflexible in the nitty gritty. As long as you have fun playing with her otherwise it seems worth sticking to the rules.
