We went with Eufy cams ,hub and lock after watching your reviews. Happy with everything except the lock . C210 . We installed it less than a month while in our new Florida home before heading north. Last month we got warnings of low battery. Now it is offline. We probably used the lock 20 times when there last March.

Hey @lifehackster! I love the channel! One thing I haven't seen reviewed on these smart locks on KZbin is how much torque the motors have. It's always something I'm looking at when setting them up for someone's rental as jams happen more often. I've noticed the wyze locks seem to have much more torque and fewer errors in comparison to others I've tried, like eufy. It would be interesting to somehow set up a torque test and see which ones will have fewer errors/jams.

My biggest gripe with this lock and others from Eufy/Anker is that they're using a non-standard(shorter) kwikset key, with a schlage style head. So, not only will someone probably try to use an automated key machine somewhere, and select schlage because of the head automatically getting the wrong key, even if they know it's a kwikset odds are it's going to be too long to work; Even if someone goes to a locksmith they'll likely have to go back a few times too. If they're going Kwikset, why not just go with a standard Kwikset key with SmartKey to allow you to match to other locks in your home, especially should you want or need multiple exterior smart locks. Even if they DON'T give it the SmartKey function, a standard Kwikset key would at least allow you to set it as the key for the other locks in the house. I wanted to get one of their locks that has a built in camera, and finding this out was an immediate dealbreaker. I have a Kwikset smartkey ecosystem, and only wanted one with a camera built in because the door I'd want it on is the only blind spot for my Eufy cam ecosystem. Yeah, key's should theoretically only be neeed in an emergency... but at least allow the convenience of easy key matching. The second door can just get a regular keypad lock that I can match to my others... and I'll get another doorbell cam with the benefit of a wider field of view not obstructed by a door frame.

I have the Yale Assure Lock 2 and the batteries drain super fast with no alert. I'm lucky to get 2 months usage before the batteries are dead. I had the previous Yale Smart lock with external hud version and it worked so much better. I know you said this lock could last up to 8 months. I'm interested how long it actually will last.

Is that chime (unlock and lock beeps) adjustable? The older eufy locks use the speaker (the one that talks to you during fingerprint setup) to play a nice jingle on lock and unlock events.

You can just adjust the volume but not the type of tone.

Hopefully they have a firmware update that either changes the speaker (buzzer versus speaker) or at least a different beep pattern so its easier to identify if someone is unlocking or locking the door. (Which is a huge feature of the other door locks in Eufy's lineup).

There are other brands that only offer bluetooth, fingerprint, and keypad which should be cheaper. Remember, without WIFI, you will not be able to access the lock remotely.

You're aren't supposed to be able to see the deadbolt from outside. That's a security issue.

It's an outswinging french door with windows on both sides of the lock and knob. A visible deadbolt isn't making much of a difference.

I use my outward swinging backdoor in my smart lock videos so that there is a visual, that it does lock. With this setup, the deadbolt will always show..also remember this door cannot be kicked IN...easily anyways.
