Hi there, just purchased a Eufy doorbell so decided to YT for videos regarding set up and reviews. Your's was one of the videos that popped up/ recommended. So glad watched your video. It was very useful. You spoke clearly and not too fast, so was able to hear what you were saying and best of all you had no background music, which makes tyring to hear folk really difficult. Thank you for making a great video. I am so not tech orientated and have a question for you, if you don't mind. Question is:- With regard to that white storage hub/ homebase having 16GB storage, when the storage base is full, what happens then - would I need to buy another storage hub, or will new footage begin over riding old footage? Thank you
@JamesTalksTechАй бұрын
Thanks for your comment! :) Once you hit the 16GB storage limit, the system will start overwriting the oldest footage with new recordings. If you have any important clips, be sure to save them to your phone using the app to keep them safe.

Finally a review that comp;ares instead of rattling off specs of both doorbells. Question: If you disconnect the Internet, none of the smart features work with the E340. Even if the E340 is paired with a Homebase 3, the Homebase 3 must have Internet access for the E340 smart features to work. Does the Homebase 3 also need to have Internet access in order for the smart features of the S330 paired to it to work?
@JamesTalksTechАй бұрын
What specific smart features are you referring to? I haven't noticed any limitations when the internet is down, though ours is online 99% of the time. I’d be happy to test if you let me know :)

@@JamesTalksTech When you are at home, connected to your Wi-Fi, if you disconnect the WAN to the Internet, do you get any alerts on your app when someone is around the front door or rings the doorbell when you are in the back yard with your phone? Can you see any of the events that have happened in the past with the Internet disconnected even though the data itself is contained locally?

Hi, great review thanks. I was wondering if you don't pay for the cloud storage option can you still view your homebase clips remotely? Or do you have to be on the WiFi to view historical clips? Thanks!

Yeah you can still view your Homebase clips remotely without a subscription. That’s how I use it ☺️

Great video! Simple and detailed. Just subscribed. I’ve got a question though, is the delay in 2-way audio just to start the connection then it’s all good? Or is there a delay that would affect the conversational flow? Like how TV anchors have delays when talking to reporters sometimes?
@JamesTalksTechАй бұрын
Thanks - sorry for the late response, it's not too noticeable once the connection is established. It's not instant, but there's only about a second or so delay, which is much shorter than the five-second delays you sometimes see with TV anchors.

Hi, great review. Can you please let me know if the recorded videos can be accessed remotely via the app, for when you are not at home? Thanks.

Thanks! Yeah providing your homebase is online and connected to the internet, you'll be able to access the clips remotely via the app.

This is an old model now. Why didn't you choose the newer E340 with swappable battery & light / colournight vision & Homebase 3 where you can add a SSD drive?
@JamesTalksTech3 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! The E340 is a newer model with added features, but it's not a direct replacement for the S330. The S330 has some unique features, like a 180-degree field of view (versus the E340's 160 degrees) and radar detection for better motion and loitering control. Plus, the second camera on the S330 is adjustable, unlike the static one on the E340. This review is based on over two years of using the S330, just to highlight its durability and long-term performance. The S330 is still available and often costs more than the E340 (At least, in the UK!), likely because Eufy’s S line is often considered more premium. This is also why the E340 has similar specs a few years later, as premium features tend to trickle down to more affordable models over time. The S330 is compatible with both Homebase 2 and 3, so it supports expandable storage and backward compatibility. While the E340 offers dedicated coloured night vision through built-in LED lights - which is neat, the S330 can still achieve coloured night vision with adequate external lighting (as shown in my review), which also won't affect battery life. While the hot-swappable battery on the E340 is handy and could be the deciding factor for some, wired mode is always my preference when possible. Both models are excellent and for the most part, are very similar. The choice really comes down to personal preference and available deals.

@@JamesTalksTechI bought the E340 as a potential upgrade to the S330 (which i still use) when it first got released a year ago, both have there pros & cons. In comparison the viewing angles & camera resolution are identical. However the audio on the E340 sounded more muffled using the early firmware at the time, it used quite agressive background noise suppression unlike on the S330. However the face ID / AI learning appears to be improved on the E340. The motion detection, esp for pets (I have a cat) is noticeably better too, whereas the S330 often fails to detect my cat sitting at the door right under the doorbell. The radar detection on the S330 where you can adjust the sensitivity of each angle is absent on the E340 but once I set the ignore zones I can't say i got more false triggers without it. One fault I picked up on with the S330 & notified Eufy about is a hardware glitch where the cameras aperture struggles in contrasting dark light scenes, such as at dusk & when the security light comes on. This causes flickering lines to appear. I have tried replacement models & firmware updates via tech support but Eufy says it cannot be fixed via firmware & all models are affected. This isn't an issue with the E340. Yes the colour nightvisiom with LED is a bit of a gimmick & not needed if you have a security light & turn infrared off. The LED light drains the battery much quicker, especially during winter. There are two useful features in the E340 that might make an upgrade worthwhile from the S330, first is the swappable battery when charging & being able to keep the doorbell in operation. The second is the ability to have a 3 second pre-roll once motion is detected. But this is only available when you connect the doorbell to the mains & not on battery power alone. Nobody has tested that feature so it appears to be overlooked by YT reviewers. Besides i don't have that connection only battery & it wasnt enabled when I first bought it a year ago. So having tried both I decided to stick with the older S330 but instead upgraded from HB2 to HB3 as part of a Eufy trade in deal & put in an SSD drive to store events. The Eufy app is still pretty glitchy tho, esp on playing back events where it freezes. It might be worth your time to do a review comparison & test the pre-roll?

Thank you. I bought mine just now from EBay refurbished. I had the s220 but The resolution wasn’t clear so I just used the current 4 of July coupon to buy the dual camera one. I want to see packages and other deliveries. My s220 only loaded live feeds 2 seconds max. I hope that the dual camera doesn’t take 5 seconds to load. That would bother me greatly.

Great informative video, I have the Homebase 2 with two security camera’s, Would it be ok to add a Uefy doorbell camera to this setup? Would the Homebase 2 have sufficient storage to handle it? Thanks.
@JamesTalksTechАй бұрын
Thanks :). It's hard to say for sure, since it depends on how much footage your existing cameras record and how far back you want to store and view your clips. Adding a doorbell camera to a two-camera setup should generally be fine, but you might see the clips overwritten anywhere from one to three months, depending on their sensitivity.

Is it possible to have the existing mechanical chime work while the eufy is hardwired to it? Or does it only work in battery mode?

Yes, that’s how ours is setup. The existing mechanical chime in the house works with the doorbell providing its wired in. It won’t work via battery only mode.
