I was using a Eufy 1080p wireless doorbell, which was OK, but then switched to the Blink doorbell, as I have other Blink cameras and thought it was a good idea to have it all on the same platform. I'm think now of putting the Eufy back. With the Eufy, when the doorbell rings, I get a notification, tap it and see who's there. With the Blink, it takes longer to view who's at the door. By the time I'm able to see who is at the door, they're usually gone. Also one advantage to the Eufy wireless doorbells is that the data is stored _inside_ on as SD card in the _chime_ , not in the doorbell itself, which is a good feature if a perpetrator rips the doorbell off. The video is still in the house. I don't know why the wired doorbells don't do it that way. The only thing the Blink is beter at is battery life. the lithium batteries seem to last longer than a charge on the Eufy. It seems like I've been charging the Eufy every month.
@FortKnoxCo Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your input! I’m this is good info because I’ve never used the blink systems. @FortKnoxCo Жыл бұрын
@@sufferedlearnedchanged I wouldn’t necessarily say easily. But if “hackers” can hack into some of these major companies we hear about on the news once in a while I’m sure there could be a breach on a video doorbell. One of the nice things without having to use the cloud and having the local in-house storage, is that the only real way to get into any of your systems would be to be at your house and hack into your IP are local Wi-Fi. But then again, you would have access to all your devices connected to your Wi-Fi at that point almost. I have a couple of the previous model, without the doorbell or package camera, and they work just fine for me. One is charging while the other is "one duty". My waving American flag and tall trucks passing by my fence would activate the camera, so I made a cover, from thin sheet metal, like the brim of a baseball cap, to limit the camera's vertical view, and it works just fine. The base of the "brim" is secured between the stucco wall and the mount, so it stays in place.

@@Mr.Slime9812 the video doorbells require a stronger power source. So most ask you to also upgrade the doorbell transformer so it can work correctly. My cameras are crystal clear, the sound is good and the communication speakers with well. I’m not saying this camera you’re showing isn’t good, but it has its faults as well. The added, required part, if you needed it for the doorbell to work then why didn’t they send it in the box?? That’s their way to make extra money. So I’ll stick with my RING, it’s tried and true.

These have the option to have a Home Base which is extended memory that can be in your home in a secured location to circumvent the problem of a damaged or stolen doorbell. You can keep all the memory safely at home still and home HAVE to pay for storage in a subscription format just to be able to use the features of your doorbell camera. I found that as a negative when you buy a Ring doorbell for all the cool things it can do but you don’t get all those features unless you continue to pay for them.

Eufy does allow for local storage, and if you get a Synology NAS, you can also back that up to a cloud service of some kind (or even another Synology NAS you have stored at a relative's house that you can sync the data between) and there is a Synology app to view your video feed remotely as well. I haven't gotten one yet but I am planning on it may be more steps than what most people want, but the important thing, is that you are in control of your won data. Ring freely gives your video feed to policy agencies when they simply ask, not even under subpoena.

That’s very unfortunate. I’ve never heard of one of their doorbells just dying for no reason after a week. There wasn’t any type of power surge or something that could have caused damage? You’ll have to use the plug in that comes with it. Unfortunately the way these door bells work with having a constant supply of electricity they don’t activate the traditional type of door bell. The benefit though is that you can plug it in anywhere you want. It could be in your bedroom or the garage or wherever you might want the notification to be utilized best. And it can be an outlet that is not being used or somewhere out of sight if you prefer. It’s kind of cool that you can put the bell anywhere you want.

I got this doorbel for a while now. Few points: it only lasts 3 months instead of a year. Has a proven security flaw that video files are stored out of the country. Which can be accessed by Eufy. The doorbell is so slow establishing a connection that the package guy is already gone 9/10. Although i do have 1000mb internet. So that is a couple of things from a longterm user. What is also funny is that if you also take the camera's with the base station.. you can steal it, and reset it. It will delete remotely all the content from the basestation. Leaving you with an empty basestation. It is the perfect scenario for burglars.

Sucks to hear that. I haven’t experienced any of those problems. The notifications come in quick, usually within 1-3 seconds of the motion my watch and phone are vibrating. And I’ve been able to catch people at my door before they leave and speak to them through the doorbell very well. As far as a base station storage and if your not storing anything in cloud, you’d want obviously want that in a secure location. Not out in the open or easily grabbed. That would be the same case with any security system that’s stored on property. You don’t want anyone grabbing the storage device.

@FortKnoxCo Жыл бұрын
It doesn’t have the ability to plug in. It also Runs off a lower power source than a standard plug. Doorbells have a transformer that reduces the power to a 30v type of power supply before it runs to the doorbell. So I have a video showing this installation of a doorbell transformer from a regular outlet power source to the transformer to the doorbell wires. But they have the battery powered doorbells. They can be mounted and used pretty much anywhere. You just have to charge the battery every once in a while.

This is the best unbiased comparison between the Ring and Eufy. I never understand why one would want to pay to get your video recorded on the cloud. And I agree it is by far a much better camera. I've had the original 2K for a little over two years now. I had to get the battery version because the location of the original doorbell button is not at the best location to put the Eufy. Interestingly enough I've only had to charge the battery twice; I get notified when it's time to charge it so that's a nice feature. This model came with a homebase that serves as the doorbell and video storage. It has a really good object (person) detection system. I get notified long before a person gets within 10 feet of the door. I decided to install an commercial grade day and night color camera with a wide lens that covers the ground floor as well as the walkway to the house.
@FortKnoxCo Жыл бұрын
I completely agree! I personally love the doorbell. After having a couple others I still prefer the Eufy. I think the cameras detection system is great. I’m impressed how it has the facial recognition and sends you a snap shot of the persons face as they are walking up. And you are right with how fast it is. I hated getting a notification about someone at my door and by time I get it open to view they are gone or walking away. Not with this Eufy.

As a Ring user since they have been out this video has a lot of false information. Ring video quality could be a little better and I wish it has the package camera but otherwise it is rock solid and their customer service top notch. I do like Eufy too but I think the price of the Ring subscription is well worth it. Ring cameras on the other hand, the battery ones, terrible. LOL
@FortKnoxCo9 ай бұрын
I hear what you’re saying. But this is not necessarily false info, it’s just my opinion and my personal experience with them. I was excited to get the ring, finally getting a video doorbell, and I just wasn’t happy with all the problems I was having. And then after the 30 days I got a notification saying I can’t view any of my videos from events u less I now subscribed….. I didn’t like that. I felt I already paid a good penny for the device, why can’t I see any of the advertised features. Without paying more money forever I would only be able to view stuff at my door during the moment it was happening or else it was not accessible later. And what made me mad was when I got a notification that someone was there at my door and I would quickly try to open it up and view or communicate….it lagged and had delays and I lost the window to actually see who was there when they were there. So I just felt there’s gotta be a better way. Give me the option to at least store some amount of local video storage and then give me the option to pay more if I want extra stuff like monitoring service and cloud storage.

I get what your saying but they do tend to hold their charges longer and the storage you saying will be lost isn’t true, the data is stored in your home , either in the plug in door bell chime or your home base memory. Before those, I have 4 Arlo cameras on the outside and they work fine and store all the videos locally, can see them from anywhere in the world, but the lag between activity, being triggered, and starting recording is so long that I most often get nothing on film. Useless unless the person stays in frame for more than 10 seconds. I wouldn't recommend the Arlo system. So far the Eufy seems the best. I had the Samsung in the past but were so bad I gave them to my elderly mom so I can watch her from across the country should she need help. The information at the beginning of the video claiming that ring/blink cannot store video locally or has no access after the FREE trial subscription ends is just FALSE. If you buy it with the Sync Module you have the ability to locally store and remotely view any and all motion alerts and videos from all of your cameras on that system. As stated by another user at least that is inside the house so you don't have to lose everything when someone just rips the camera off the house. Also to buy the blink/ring system with that backup option is still less expensive that what you're proposing here. In addition you can use your existing Alexa or blink mini camera's as chimes in addition to your mobile devices and tablets by just installing an app and setting up which ones you want to ring. Just tell people the truth rather than a paid marketing scheme. Otherwise a well made video, and no beef with using an alternate product that has the same or maybe better features.. but don't lie about a competitor to make a quick buck.
@FortKnoxCo Жыл бұрын
I appreciate the feed back. I make videos on all the stuff I buy or use to just give insight or instructions on installing/problem solving. But was not paid by Eufy to do this. I was making a video about my ring doorbell and then learned about how I’d have to have a subscription or buy more equipment to store my data/alerts n such. I then researched, found eufy and liked that with just the doorbell it had internal storage and the ability to expand, but didn’t have to buy anything else other than the door bell if I didn’t want to. I was mainly focusing on using the door bell as a stand alone and having the ability to access all the creatures these door bell talk about. With ring I lost most those great features after the trail unless I wanted to pay for something in addition. With the Eufy i was able to install and have full access to the features as advertised and didn’t have to pay for them down the road. I also had a lot of connection issues with my ring doorbell. Not saying this is a problem for everyone but something I experienced. With the Eufy I’ve had a way better experience with opening the app and I’m the video feed popping right up. The ring lagged or didn’t connect. And when it did half the time it would notify me that it was doing a software update and would be back online shortly. Super annoying. But again I appreciate the feedback. Never intentionally hiding any info from people. I may be pumping up what I’m doing or expanding more on what I have in my hand vs the other options, but that’s only because it’s what I may have more experience with or actually have experience using. I usually just make videos about stuff I find or have used. There’s plenty of other options out there. Im not testing and doing break downs on all systems like a tech channel, just trying to help people with getting more info out there.

Thanks for the video. On Prime day I bought a Ring Battery Doorbell Pro because it was a pretty good price, and because we have a couple echo show’s and a bunch of echo dot’s. I have not hooked it up yet, but my understanding is that the Ring doorbell will chime on the Echo Dot’s, and show video automatically on the Echo Show’s? Is this the case? And will the Eufy offer integration with the Alexa products as a chime or a video doorbell alert? Eufy claims integration, but people online have complaints. Thank You!
@FortKnoxCo5 ай бұрын
I don’t know much more about the ring and how they integrate. We got rid of ours after having so much trouble with the doorbell and they fact that they REQUIRED a subscription to work they way it’s advertised. So with efuy we have all Eufy products and they integrate together. I haven’t tried integrating other brands with the Eufy myself.

@@FortKnoxCo thanks. So you don’t have the Eufy set up to chime with Alexa or Google?
@FortKnoxCo5 ай бұрын
@@extendedp1 no I have it set up with the chime that it came with. I don’t use Alexa or any other home integrated systems right now. Just the Eufy plug in chime

I would like to know if there is something to protect the camera from someone stealing it. Thank you
@FortKnoxCo Жыл бұрын
There is no additional protection on the outside to prevent someone from breaking it off. At least not that I know of. It is secured to the wall and secured with some anchor screws. All of the memory is stored inside your house, so even if they steal the doorbell itself, you should have the hard drive in the chime plugged into the house, which is where I believe the memory is stored.

you might want to consider trying the reolink wifi or poe doorbell. it is still new to the market and features still need to be added but it records fine on their nvr or sd card. it is also usable on home assistant and blueiris

That is for the info. I’m going to have to check them out.

This may be a dumb question but can I see live feed from ring or the other brand on my iPhone? If I don’t have Alexa? Ty
@FortKnoxCo Жыл бұрын
Yep. If you open the app for the doorbell on your phone it allows you to connect to the doorbell and vide it Live whenever you want.

Yes. That’s exactly what it does. And you don’t have to pay for any additional service to do this. You buy it and it works and it has all those features available. No subscription

@FortKnoxCo6 ай бұрын
The audio when standing outside and talking to the doorbell? Pretty good with my experience. I’d say you average standing and talking distance/volume. I believe you can adjust some of the sensitivity metrics on the device to help suit your needs too

Of course they would run there’s off an abnormal voltage? 16 volts instead of the normal 12 or 24 Volt?
@FortKnoxCo Жыл бұрын
I believe it just needs a little more voltage than the average doorbell. They commonly sell the larger doorbell transformer at big box stores now because of all the video doorbells needing a stronger voltage. So most video doorbells now need the larger transformer to run properly

For the indoor cameras, do you know if it comes with the parts to mount it to the wall/celling?
@FortKnoxCo4 ай бұрын
If it is an indoor camera system, they should come with some types of options to mount. Usually, if you’re looking at the product online, it will show you what it comes with and the mounting options.

You said you replace the ring doorbell, I have the same one, when I install the ring doorbell there was a module that went into the chime inside the house from original doorbell system. How does that figure into the equation?
@FortKnoxCo Жыл бұрын
Are you referring to the little jumper cable that they say you can install to bypass the doorbell? I install that inside the house. It just jumps the power past the chime inside the house to supply constant power to the doorbell outside.
