Hey yall, sorry for the audio issues at the beginning of the episode, not exactly sure what happened. It does stop completely around the 30 minute mark of the episode. 😅

I started playing the TCG a month and a half ago and now I look forward to your podcast every week. Thank you for the great content, you are both awesome! Also the evolution series is the best Pokemon content on youtube, the world needs more like it.

43:00 It was Patrik Räty, who placed top 32 at Sac, who built the crab list. He shared the deck with our playgroup, who Richard Yannow was also a part of; the other top 32 crab turtle player at Sac.

Finally mentioned Atlanta! Everyone here that I play with is so excited about this. They couldn’t do regionals here the last couple of years because of the gambling laws and how they looked a VG. But they changed it and we can have major TCG events here!!!!

43:58 so I don't think Robin was the original innovator with Genesect. Genesect was played to a 2nd place in the online late night tournament the Wednesday before Stuttgart. So I think it was a known quantity for Klawf players

I disagree with priority registration being good overall. When you have 200-500 people fighting for the top 100 world invite spots, why should 32 of them get a guaranteed IC spot? Rich get richer imo.

43:05 the klawf/terapagos deck didn't really show up out of nowhere. It was seeing a lot of success in Japan prior to it showing up in Sacramento.

I miss the days of watching old magic pro tours and they had 3 matches all on stage with a feature and 2 backups. Was super engaging

22:50 in hearthstone you still will play against people NOT in legend rank. You often will play against rank 3 - rank 1 players. Unsurprisingly, TCG Live failed in implementing this elo system properly 😮💨

I think Azul confused the M80 team with the Gentlemates team because Wolfe is part of the M80 team.

As an Aussie (who was at perth lol) we were missing henry and kaiwen + the jp players who came over weren't scrubs lol like reiji has a worlds t8 Keito has 2 ic t8s etc (the tourney he scrubbed out in last yr was brisbane day 1). And as any other reg winner Keito got quite lucky particularly against rahul and brent.

Yep I also missed the first regional I planned on going because there is literally no official information whatsoever on how to register for a tournament. Just kind of have to know the right people, and I didn't.

You might want to reach out to Rattle Pokemon about setting something up to post tourneys. He's got discord channels set up for Pokemon product drops. He might be able to set up a channel for scraping Twitter for tourney announcements

Something I think you guys missed in the PTCGL elo system discussion is that according to the in-app announcement everyone is getting reset to Poke League EVERY season. If that stays the case then the Arceus grind to start every season/waiting period stuff is going to continue to be a problem every reset. Kinda wild. As someone used to chess it feels really bizarre that elo resets at all, and it feels like once you hit Arceus you should stay forever Arceus and your elo sticks. Elo is a measure of how likely you are to beat another player, not really a measure of progress but a measure of relative skill. It seems weird that it resets every ladder reset and so you might play someone who was previously 2000 but is now rated 1500 on a fresh ladder, and the formula would account for them being 1500 skill. Maybe it should put Arceus players in Mew or Master League if they want them to grind a little but then when you reach Arceus it restores your last rating. I don’t think anyone actually believes a ladder reset or even a new format really changes who the best players are.

The thing about live is they will always mess up something that should be an easy win. Idt any other ranked game resets to the lowest rank every season and I have to assume the devs for live have never played a game with ranked or it would've been right when the game released
