Hello lovelies! Here is my base routine video covering foundation, colour correcting, contouring & highlighting. I guess this is technically my camera-ready base routine as I only really use it when I’m filming or know I’ll be taking photos. I’m not sure how useful this will be for day to day wear since there's a lot going on and it can be quite time consuming but hopefully you can still take something away from it! :)

Hey Emma, Have you ever thought about dampening your sponge with the setting spray? If it worked it could save you an extra step :) Just a thought that I had, never tried it. If you do and it works let me know! I will have to give it a go.

I recently started to use the Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation and love it as well. I use my fingers with it because I like the coverage that way and it layers great. I knew it was great when I got a compliment on how my skin looked. Winning!

If you like taupes for contour, I suggest the NYX blush in "Taupe". Its mt favorite contouring powder!

I agree, I love Mac Pro long wear but it was starting to dry me out and make me look like an old lady. Ive been told I should try the UD naked skin concealer but now you have me curious about the tarte one

I love the video but I agree!! Base routine is a very personal thing - Unless it is very specific for the look, there is no point in including the entirety of it in tutorials. We are all always going to have different skin tones and types, different price rangers and just different preferences in general. Unless a make up artist is talking me through like a new brush or application technique, or like mentioned above, a very specific type of look, I'm going to do my face with the foundation i have on hand. Plus it's useless to me if a youtuber is recommending a foundation or a concealer that costs £50, as I will never spend that kind of money on one piece of make up. AAAAAANYWAY, you are beautiful and such a good, fun youtuber to watch, thanks for doing what you're doing!! hope you and brad are good.

Anna Woroniecka Also, I was very wary of make up sponges...I thought they were quite gross, but when the real techniques one came out I tried it and I haven't looked back since! Never got on with make up brushes anyway, I found them to be streaky no matter what. the sponges are so easy and quick.

Emma! If you haven't already, try buying the NYX blush in taupe for your contouring. I'm super pale (like NW10 pale) and I can't even wear a hint of bronzer without looking muddy. That blush saved my life! And it's cheaper than using your naked basics palette each time :)

Barbara Yeah, quite thick. I didn't like it at first since I've always worn super liquid-y foundations but once you get used to it (and don't wear too much of it) it's lovely to work with. :) And thank you so much lovely! :D

Your teeth look incredible!And I happen to switch between the two foundations you mentioned, the Tarte and Estee Lauder one. I used the Tarte one in winter and EL in summer :) It works best for me, because the EL one is too drying for winter but the Tarte one melts off my face in summer.

Seriously Emma, this video was actually really helpful to me, especially since my base routine gets pretty tricky with having naturally oily/acne prone skin. I'll be definitely looking into the NYC powder :) Did you find it was significantly more long-lasting then any other face powder you've used before?

Iz C Yes! It's lovely. You might have to touch up a couple of times throughout the day if you're particularly oily but I really like it. I've tried a few powders and I always come back to this one because it sets the best, lasts the longest and looks the smoothest. :)

NahNah Whittington Thank you! You will never look back, I promise you. :P I would look for some shimmery eyeshadows! Before using intense highlights I would use a lot of Urban Decay eyeshadows as highlights. Most palettes usually have that one champagne-y coloured highlight you can use. :)

I noticed you were covering some blemishes in the video, if you are looking for a good cleanser for oily skin I recommend the "Clear Days Ahead" cleanser form Philosophy. I don't know if you have access to Philosophy in the UK but I have been using it for over a year now and my face has not broke out this whole time. It's good stuff.

I find that so strange. I have that same Tarte Maracuja concealer and I hate it! I find it never really sets/dries down so it creases so fast and horribly. I even powdered it with that very same NYC powder and it didn't help, it still felt tacky with the powder on top. Like what?! I have since switched back to my Mac prolongwear and the MUFE HD powder, and I'm so much happier with the results. To each their own I guess. PS: is that a new tattoo I see on your shoulder? ;)

I don't use foundation but I have really bad dark circles, and also I have very very dry skin in my under eye area. I have used tons of concealers of different brands and nothing works on me, some make my skin even drier and others crease like hell! Do you think the best option is the concealer from tarte? or maybe use a primer first?

Dannie Ln Always use a primer. I notice such a difference when I'm not wearing one, especially underneath my eyes. I really like the tarte one because it's not drying in the slightest. My only concern with recommending that for people with dry skin under their eyes is the fact you really need to set it because it's quite shiny. Which may just counteract the whole hydrating aspect of the concealer and just dry your eyes out anyway which would be a shame. I've actually just ordered myself the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer on recommendation for battling this exact issue, so I will make sure to mention how I get on with it as soon as I can. :) x

The smashbox photo finish hydrating under eye primer is really great to use under concealer to help it apply more smoothly under the eyes so that might be something you could try too :)

What colour are you in other foundations? I'm so so pale but can't find any to match in any brands lightest shade haha- Estée Lauder is too orange, mac nw10 is too dark, I can't use drugstore, any suggestions? :)

Lucy McAllister I would suggest getting a white foundation to mix in with other foundations so you can get your perfect colour. I'm not sure which ones to recommend because I haven't tried any myself. BUT. My friend KlairedelysArt uses some I'm sure so if you do a bit of stalking on her channel you might find some. ^_^
