I am thinking of purchasing an ebike - debating between the Euphree v Aventon Level.2 Step-Through Commuter Ebike - do you have a preference - it would mostly be used for recreational riding - thank you - originally from WI (Hartland, WI :) )- was happy to hear that you are from WI

There are so many brands off bikes in the eBike space, companies that did not exist 5 years ago, all building variations of the same bikes it's kind of crazy. Great for reviewers but confusing for consumers. I wonder where all this will end. My big concern is that many of the companies will not last, leaving the owners with unusable bikes as the bikes age and need parts/fixing of the parts that are proprietary (controllers and batteries, etc) I'm very concerned about the enviromental impact of that. I own an eBike but also ride a traditional bike that I bought 30 years ago that I can still service because it uses very standard parts. That's what's so wonderful about traditional bikes, they can literally last a lifetime.
@ck47972 жыл бұрын
Well. To your point... Most bikes are cookie cutter templates and do not have proprietary parts.. for the most part. Besides people are now used to 1000 dollar phones that last 2 years. So ebikes not lasting beyond a few years may go unnoticed
@jeffmpvd76892 жыл бұрын
@@ck4797 Yes, phones set the standard for our now throw away culture. Sad to see that Ebikes might go the same way. Great for sellers, bad for everyone else. The planet does not have endless resources, that's just a capitalist illusion.

Great point Jeff! This is why many people opt for the 'big brands'.

I ordered 2 Euphree bikes today. In a chat with them I told the guy I was watching your videos a lot and I didn't know how to use your link since I already had my stuff in my shopping cart. He said he would make note that you were to receive credit. (He gave me a free lock and mirror, for each bike.)

I purchased a 2022 Euphree City Robin. The website stated that they offered an ebike for someone as short as 4'11. I am 5'2" and excited because my previous ebike from an other company was too tall for me. To my disappointment, I found that the Euphree was too tall! I called the company and they explained that they use to give a choice of wheel size but now only offered the larger wheel. I very much emphases that there are a lot of short adult riders and of my disappointment. They worked with me for solutions and I can now sit with my toes touching the ground. I love the City Robin and would recommend it. Hopefully they will offer an option for a lower profile ebike for shorter riders or at least bring back the smaller wheels so modification do not have to be made.

Same thing happened to me, though I'm a bit taller than you. I switch between straight seat post or suspension post which only allows me to touch my toenails (premanicure) on the ground.

At this price range, my go to e bike would be from the Electric Bike Company. The level of refinement is hard to beat.
@stevemccormack99482 жыл бұрын
Its really nice. White wall tyres (or gum wall tyres) would be a really nice touch. Also the ability to carry a second battery for out of town excursions - though I would strap one into a suitable canvas bag mounted on the front basket.

A bit steeply priced imo but it’s a very nice looker.. leaning towards a cafe cruiser..

How could you like the looks of metal fenders over plastic ones? You can't tell unless you touch or tap on them.
@EbikeEscape Жыл бұрын
The metal ones typically hug the tires better giving a bit more sleek look.

Your videos are most impressive. Other than demo bikes, do you accept money or any other incentives from manufacturers?

Thank you! We've done a handful of paid reviews, it just depends. Behind the scenes what you don't see is the 1-5 reviews I turn down per week. Typically I don't agree to review an ebike unless it's something I think people should consider looking closer at. Our goal is to keep the quality up while still keeping the schedule full. Thanks for watching!

This looks like a great option…however, I wonder how much risk in them being a new company. If they go away, no parts..like a battery… in the future.

The KBO is a great value. When you add in the cost of a suspension seat post, hydraulic disc brakes and adjustable height stem. The margin of difference shrinks a little bit. One thing I know we can all agree on, it is a great time to be a ebike buyer. There are a bunch of great options on the market right now. -JT

Did any of bikes offer regenerative braking or the ability to recharge when pedaling?
@EbikeEscape2 жыл бұрын
There are a couple Rad Power bikes that do. The RadWagon 4 comes to mind. I know there are a couple other brands, but we have not tried any of them out. -JT
@chow-chihuang49032 жыл бұрын
You need to find one with a direct drive hub motor, like the Rad City 2 or similar. Because they don’t have reduction gears, they are quieter than geared hub motors or mid-mounted motors. However, they typically are much larger and heavier and have less torque.

@@EbikeEscape , enjoy your channel, and you are one of my top go to guys for sure. Gonna put you on the spot though, cuz i was pretty set on the Ride 1 Up, but this Euphree seems like it has just a couple more things of value, like suspension seat and more adjustable handlebars. Having said that, if someone with knowledge of both were to say something like, " I would still get the Ride 1 Up and go ahead and change the seat post," then i would probably do it. One thing i do like in the specs of the Euphree, is the handlebar height is higher, and i think its a good feature. " Currently it looks like both bikes are the same sale price. Oh, i am set on a step through too like you suggest. So any input would be appreciated. I am retired, 5'10" 190 pounds, if that makes any difference ?
