The Super Spies set is the one for me. Getting Black Tight Killers and Detective Bureau 2-3 vibes from the trailer, think these Hong Kong films will fit nicely with those Japanese classics!

For some reason I can't get into Patrick Tam Kar-Ming films. Other people love them, I think they are okay (at best). I even forgot that I have seen THE SWORD (until I looked it up on LB and saw that I've watched it). If I can believe my own review then it is like a half-baked Chor Yuen film. (That would sound great for me if I didn't know this one.) When I was watching all 60s Shaw Brother movies I could find (that were not musicals), I couldn't find The Golden Buddha. So, great that it comes now, but Lo Wei and SB spy movies are both not really something to get the hopes up; although Angel with the Iron Fists was okayish. And The Singing Thief, well, not better. I think the only one I really liked from these 60s SB-Spy movies is: Temptress of a Thousand Faces, and from 1971 The Lady Professional. Summons to Death, Asia-Pol, and Black Facon (who is a remake of Sergio Sollima's Agent 3S3: Passport to Hell) were okay too. If I could wish for a SB boxset than I would love to have one with the films of Ho Meng-Hua or, maybe not as good, but fewer titles, the SB-films of Hsu Tseng-Hung or Kuei Chih-Hung or the best of the best: Chor Yuen. The next Shawscope will be great. :-)
