Sweet video! Although, I have to agree with some of the other comments about the PM….way too busy these days. Personally not worth it to me to fish shoulder to shoulder with folks and deal with all the boat traffic. Plenty of other great trout/steelhead streams in the state where you won’t see another soul.
@FlyFishtheMitt2 жыл бұрын
Thanks JP. No doubt that river gets it's fair share of pressure and can be very crowded at times. We still find plenty of water to poke around in without being shoulder to shoulder with people. Can't argue there's tons of other water as well....I'm just not putting any of that online.

Hi nice contents guys !! Have you guys land any steelhead with 3 weight euro rod before ?
@FlyFishtheMitt2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! We've landed them on the 3wt euro rods but it isn't the preferred tool for steelhead. When we euro fish we're targeting trout.

Do perdigon tear drop nyphs work good on the pm?
@FlyFishtheMitt Жыл бұрын
I think perdigon's can work anywhere really.

Does it help a lot if u have a dedicated mid price euro rod and reel? Using standard 5 weight 9 foot for now what is your opinion?
@FlyFishtheMitt Жыл бұрын
Probably comes down to the size of river you're fishing. For the smallish size rivers I'm on I like an 11' rod for reach. Allows me to work currents better for clean dead drifts. Check out the Echo line of euro rods. Depending on your budget they aren't crazy priced and their customer service is top shelf if needed.

Are most of these trout resident fish? may i ask what river i live in montana so i wont be stomping on your grounds!
@FlyFishtheMitt Жыл бұрын
Hey MT Strong! These are mostly resident fish but there's occasionally some from the lake. If you hit me up on IG I'll message with you. I prefer not to post the rivers due to the stress alot of them receive already.

@@FlyFishtheMitt unfortunately i got rid of the instagram years ago due to googans and heroshots... but i understand not wanting to give away spots/streams due to over pressuring Montana has been ruined not due to tourists enjoying our waterways for a week at a time but the transplants who have come in droves and plagued us... everyone had to buy a softy or hard boat and you will see a hundred boats down each 5 mile stretch a day were lucky if we get into 10-12 inchers anymore and forget the dry fly bite... i could go on but i wont rant sorry... i chase alternative species on the fly especially lake trout and smallies.. i wish we had more musky fisheries like you guys do... can I email you instead of the IG? thanks and the content is really good! its nice to see guys rippin lips other than western waters...

@@montanastrongremodelrenova1632 I've come to enjoy smallie fishing as one of my favorites now. I'm all for fish willing to clobber streamers and poppers, wearing shorts and sandals in 75-80 degree weather....and the best part you typically have the river all to yourself.

@FlyFishtheMitt3 жыл бұрын
Hey Thanks!! Most the guys I fish with are using the Echo Shadow X in a 3wt. Super nice rod. I have the Cortland Competition in a 3wt also. It's a little faster rod but good do it all stick. A 3wt seems to be a good all around wt rod for most situations. A couple buddies have 2wts for some smaller water and like them. What do you mostly use?
@manlaibattsengel59402 жыл бұрын
I use 3 weight 10 ft Orvis recon nice all around trout rod but for steelhead I mostly use 8 wt 9ft single hand rod or 6 wt spey . Since i saw your video I really want to use my 3 wt rod for steelhead
@FlyFishtheMitt2 жыл бұрын
@@manlaibattsengel5940 A 3wt for steelhead isn't preferred. We weren't targeting steelhead, we were fishing for trout. There just happen to be steelhead in this river and we found some.

Any general tips for getting into bigger trout tight lining Northern MI? Since I switched to my 10’ 3wt I’ve had a ton of success, super productive but on the PM & elsewhere it’s rarely a trout over 12”. I wonder if I should be hitting undercut banks and structure more or something.
