Both of my vehicles are more than twice as old as I am. They're typically not as reliable, but you can actually work on them yourself, which is a huge advantage to me. And there's nothing like driving an old car, you get that real mechanical connection. Btw, I'm 17 with a 1980 300d benz and a 1970 GMC k15 that I'm restoring.

Is it a '64?
@Lugo_Media7 жыл бұрын
not sure, i don't really know about classics
@90sgarage297 жыл бұрын
That beetle that drove by is a 66', you can tell by the turn signals...since it has the same headlights and taillights as the 66' and below beetles. The 64' is considered the best year by many VW enthusiasts. The only reason a 67' is a good year, is because it was a one year car, the only year they had that style, so the rarity makes it good, besides that it's nothing special. That may just be my opinion since I own a 64', but I'd rather have a link pin VW over ball joint any day.
@90sgarage297 жыл бұрын
Juice Box God I said the 64' is considered best by many enthusiasts, not by everyone. Also, it only costs a few bucks to convert a 6v Beetle to 12v... I've done it many times. Don't say I don't know what I'm talking about, you thought the beetle in the video was a 68+...it's definitely not. I guess it's to each their own though, different people prefer different years of the beetle. Like me, I'd rather have the small window of the 64' than the later models. I also prefer link pin over ball joint, but that's just what I like.
@90sgarage297 жыл бұрын
Not trying to start shit... since us VW people are usually pretty friendly. I too love the 67', but I'd rather have an older year.

this car reminds me of a 78 Toyota pickup I had. it was so rotted out there was no floor the door skins would flap in the wind and the frame was rotted out. sat in a field for a long time. I put an exhaust stack with a tractor flap on it. it was so loud but so slow. the manual said the 20r put 90 hp. it was so fun to drive. my plan was to make a frame for it and bag it but had to sell it.. this car reminds me so much of it

This is what i class as a fun car. Wasn't over the top expensive, not fast, doesn't handle or break. But it make's up for in character and makes you smile, plus little old carby motor's sound awesome. That is what make's automotive fun.

The reason for the clock is that when it comes to old cars basically EVERYTHING was an option and beleive it or not a tachometer was a "luxury" back in the day and some people felt they could live without next time ur at a car show look at the older dashes and sometimes you'll even see what is supposed to be a gauge but has a factory block off plate on it

not a fan of bagged look. Only things I would of done if the car was mine is the restoration, lowered ( not to the floor just a height good to get over speed humps/ bad potholes), and widen the wheel to fill the body more but that my opinion. Still a cool car.
@TheLp640fan8 жыл бұрын
Miguel Hernandez you cant widen the wheels if your going lower, the fender will rub. This has a Narrow beam so it doesnt rub but it gives in that sunk in look
@That_NJ_guy8 жыл бұрын
Jason Guarino I wouldn't have lowered it crazy so the wheel should fit. And widen it to fit the car better not super close to the fender, I still want turning room.

The beetle engines are really capable. I know someone with a Beetle that has a Type 4 engine from a 914 and it makes a stupid amount of power. I don't know the exact number but I'd guess like 180hp and it's naturally aspirated. It'll get to 80mph like it's nothing. It's amazing. Sketchy, but amazing.
