Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of BYD SEAL-U 2023

Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
▶ a frontal impact test where 50% of the width of the car strikes an oncoming deformable barrier, travelling at 50 km/h
▶ a frontal impact test where the car impacts a full-width rigid barrier
▶ a side impact test where a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
▶ a pole test where the car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole and the robustness of the centre airbag is evaluated
▶ a whiplash test performed on a sled.
A series of pedestrian tests are also conducted with different impactors : adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form. As well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests. In 2023 a test scenario for Cyclist Dooring Prevention was introduced.
Active safety is rated based on the performance of the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car and car-to-motorcycle scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders, fatigue, distraction and impairment), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

any saloon will handle speed bumps just fine... to me it's more about the boot space. At min it needs to be a hatchback. SUV even better. You couldn't fit a mini fridge in a full sized saloon that you could in a small hatchback. Hatchback is just so superior

Poor result on the side pole

It looked a lot worse than it actually was because of the movable part of the sunroof popping up and the rear section smashing. The overhead view shows the pole making surprisingly little progress into the car.
