Thats a fair price, is it beacuse of the current millage ? If the millage was say half around 45k what would one be worth? Just trying to understand the price , as I have seen ones with lower millage fetch more. I do like the colour combo

A black long w126 in the eighties in Europe meant either that a political official, an ambassador or a high-ranking official of a corporation was in the vehicle. Beautiful car!

This was my neighbor's car here in Portland. He cherished it! We would talk often about it because I have the same W126, same year, but in white w/blue interior. They were like bookends. I see you brought it back to stock by swapping out the W140 wheels for bundts. Looks great!

That is a beautiful car! Own a couple of vintage Mercedes myself. There is just something about the feel of a old Benz. 🤷 Bob, you should show some clips of your old Benz racing vids !

Very nice W126! I have a 1985 380se that has been in our family since 1989 when my Dad bought it with 40,000 miles on it. Cabernet Red with Palomino. It now has 269,000 miles and is still immaculate. My Dad stopped driving back in 2018, so I am the caretaker of this classic. I really think the HP of these engines were understated by Mercedes. The 3.8 states 155 hp and 220 ft/lb torque. Inconceivable that these numbers are correct. It flies down the road. Also, you are correct about the suspension on these cars. Just steel springs and Bilstein shocks, but the ride is incredible. My Porsche Cayenne S with the air suspension cannot compare to the ride quality of a big Benz. These cars were built to last, not like the built to a price point cars of today. I have a video of my 380se on my channel, JRB RESTORATIONS. Check it out. By the way, I see that your dashboard wood is separating from the aluminum it is bonded to, just like mine! Mercedes did a little better with the wood process in 86, but not as shiny as the 81 thru 85. Have a great day!

Although less HP than the Gen2's, these Gen1 W126's have some advantages: Uses regular unleaded fuel, less complicated mechanically without standard airbags, ABS and self-leveling suspension. As such, it's also a couple hundred pounds lighter.

There something about the first generation original design that is special. Styling, reliability, and maintenance are a few of its highlights.
