At PHI, we have the yellow base of the sump tool mounted directly onto the lid of a quart mason jar. Clean and simple.

Brilliant!

I like the Robertson crash resistant fuel tank a lot more because there are two sump options depending on your service bulletin status, and neither require a special tool. There’s almost no reason to not sump your fuel on preflight when it’s so easy.

The tool is over engineered / over complicated, and very messy. We cut our tube off about 3” from the top and just sump straight into the jar.

That is a very good mod.... I have seen other operators do that

I prefer giving jar a whirl.. just so particles get collected in centre.. if any.. easy to see them together in centre of jar in the little whirlpool

Seems it would make more sense to inspect it in the clear tube.

I think that was the idea but its not that easy to inspect in the tube.

Someone needs to check the engineers. These guys are getting out of control.
