A job that doesn't happened verry often, in fact, hasn't happened since for me. She was empty when entering port. A true leviathan she was. Awesome sight to behold and proud of being part of it.

Great video. However one of the stats confuses me a little. She can hold equivalent to one day of UK and France's combined oil consumption. Wouldn't this indicate that France and the UK would need about 365 such sized ships docking each year to maintain their supplies? How many oil tankers are there in the world to maintain this kind of continual supply, especially when you think of how many other countries in the world are needing imports of oil too. I'm not saying the video is wrong, however it does puzzle me a little.

Those tankers are the last remaining ULCCs that deserves being called ULCC tankers. They are the last echo of true giants sailing on the oceans. Between 1960 and 1980 the DWT and GRT was between 350 - 560k DWT and 160 - 270k GRT. Todays ULCC tankers has the typical dimensions of 333m LOA and 60m Beam with a draft of 22m and a DWT spanning around 320k. While those vessels are pretty big, they are still considered to be "smaller ULCCs". A typical ULCC tanker from the past could have the dimensions 370m LOA, 65 - 70m beam, a draft of 22 - 26m and as mention above, some DWT around 350 - 450k. There are som few hype rgiants among the ULCC, and everyone mentions Jhare Viking (Oppama, Seawise Giant, Knock Nevis) as the biggest one. But there are more uknown ULCC tankers with some amazing dimensions: The swedish built tanker Nanny (later known as King Alexander and Sea World) had a LOA of 364m, but a beam of 79.8m and a DWT of 498k. It was the widest ship ever to be built, not being a catamaran as Pioner Spirit. The Globtic Tankers had one of the deepest drafts; about 28m, 370 LOA and 63m beam. They could carry 482k DWT. The Batillus class supertankers was the largest tankers in the world, not being re-built as Jhare Viking was. They could carry around 555k DWT, had a beam of 64m and drafts nearly 30m and a LOA of 414m.

@@arjunpadmakumar2961 Yeah its kinda good and sad that those ULCCs no longer exists. I've been thinking of if today's ULCC really should be called ULCC and not VLCC. I was also wondering why there aren't larger ULCCs around since many of those huge ones did had a draft of 22m - which seems to be standard today. Some ships have greater dimensions (eg Stena Vision, V-MAX) whose beam is around 70m and a draft of mere 18m. What if we made that ship say 100m longer (from its original 336 LOA) and call it a true ULCC tanker? Does anyone have an explanation to why all ULCC - and most VLCCs today have the same dimensions of 333 LOA, 60m beam and 22m draft?

I just did some calculations today to figure that out since here in the America’s the current Administration Stopped most new leases for oil and also stopped valuable pipeline infrastructure from being built that would have kept the North Americas energy independent and Biden relied on oil imported from Russia and now is begging Saudi Arabia to boost production to ship in Supertankers. These massive ships burn around 9,774 gallons an hour of crude oil. The trip takes about 40 days or roughly 960 hours for a total Gallon consumption of 9,383,040 gallons. Then on the empty return trip burns another 3,740,000 for a whopping 13,123,000 gallons 🔥 burned up. That is 223,405 Barrels, or potentially 111,703 gallons of 87 Octane Gasoline for cars. ] Lets assume for the argument we have a fleet of Nissan Altima’s and get 36 MPG x the number of gallons of 87 Octane then we could have powered 4,021,302 driver miles. Divide that by 12,000 miles average Milage a US driver drives in one year and that would equate to 335 Nissan Altimas could be driven by people for one year on what it takes to move Crude Oil from Saudi Arabia to the USA, just that one ship. USA receives on average three supertankers each week to the Gulf of Mexico Loop oil Rig for offloading, that is 150 ships per year that burn enough fuel to power 50,266 Nissan Altima Cars for one year 12,000 miles each. What a crying shame that the USA Current Biden Administration is saying to the young people see we are saving the planet? The hell you are, your burning nasty crude oil for just about no reason to import oil you already have in your backyard. Please feel free to check my math or ask where I obtained my statistics on SuperTankers. Thank you.
