Can pack 18 vertically launched cruise missiles (Tomahawk) for underwater launch. And, since a cruise missile is essentially a drone, can launch UAVs as well. And underwater drones (UUVs) as well as divers from the torpedo tubes.

Fantastic submarine solution. I whish Denmark would buy two of them. One for operation in Østersøen, and one for the Northsee and North Atlantic.

The best shallow seas submarine, by some margin. Ideal for The Baltic Sea, and even more so for The Gulf of Bothnia and The Gulf of Finland.

The days of lead acid submarine batteries are in the past, the stirling engine still has a bit of life left in it for purposes besides submarines.

To be honest I don't think the A26 in its current form is what Sweden needs. The submarine design was developped after the fall of the Soviet Union, thus at the time the threat of invasion or a direct military attack on Sweden from Russia was deemed low. The A26 was therefore not designed to combat a powerful invasion fleet with the help of a large weapon load, and instead as explained in the video for information gathering. But the relevance of a powerful attack submarine able to take on a large fleet of enemy surface vessels and submarines has now again increased following Russia's increasingly agressive behavior in Eastern Europe and the Baltics. The Swedish A26 has a very low offensive capacity compared to most modern submarines, and while it may be almost impossible to detect, its capability to take on a large numerically superior enemy is lower than for example the Dutch version of the A26 or the diesel submarines currently in use by Russia. Add to that the fact that Sweden has ordered very few, only two. The Gotland submarines will be outdated in 2030, and with the limited offensive capacity if the A26, Sweden will need atleast four more submarines to have a chance to protect Swedish soil from invasion.

This can easily be remedied with vls cells added to the boat, just make it a bit longer. They already have proof of concept designs to incorporate it

Was a nice submarine 20 years ago. But technology has surpassed this design. The french and japanese are leading the way. In AIP submarine technology.

@@markjmaxwell9819 Not everyone uses Stirling aip tech. Only kokums use that tech. They designed the gotland class and the soryu class subs. Germans, Spanish and the Russians use fuel cells, which are even quieter. And batteries have been in use for decades.

Even the older Gotland-class submarine in 2018 I think, managed to "sink" an American aircraft carrier and all of its support vessels several times in exercices carried out by the American Navy where they leased a Gotland-class submarine and its crew for the purpose of learning how to defeat an adversary. Good for you, you're on our side most of the time.
