The poor guy clearly had mental issues and was at a vulnerable stage in his life. He needed help and support, not to be bullied and encouraged to kill himself. The main reason I don’t like this movie is because it expects us to sympathize with Euronymous and I just can’t do that knowing what kind of a person he actually was.

It just tries to make Varg look like as big of a piece of shit as possible while portraying Euronymous as some sympathetic character, which he absolutely wasn’t. The movie glosses over horrible things that Euronymous did, namely his treatment of Dead. He and Euronymous weren’t buddies like they were portrayed in the film. Dead actually hated Euronymous and he’s likely the reason that Dead killed himself. @@Bl00dy_M4ry2.0 The real Euronymous pushed dead into committing and when he found his body, he took photos and used it as the cover for the album "dawn of the black hearts" (you can search it up but you will see uncensored images so please be careful) and on top of that, he took pieces of his skull and brain matter and made them into necklaces before gifting them to other members of the band. It's so fucked up. Dead wasn't a good person either, he used to cut himself on stage. The members of the band also burnt down multiple churches. The entire history of the band is insane, I did a deep dive and watched a bunch of video essays on the whole thing.

there's a misconception. euronymous did take the picture, but he didn't use it for an album cover. he sent it to people and it was used for a bootleg of dawn of the black hearts in 1995, two years after euronymous' death.

This movie was made to specifically attack Varg Vikerness because of his beliefs. So they tried to ruin his image by rooting for Euronymous and made him look like an emotional or misguided saint. To make Vargs actions worse than what they already where. There is what the movie says, and what members of the band & what members of the scene say, without Vargs input. Euronymous was a try hard who had many convinced about his image and personality. He was also older than the others so he probably “ big bothered them all “ from what everyone says he was also very assertive. He even did crazy shit that band members did not approve. There is alot of testimony mounted against this guy. All I know for sure is , is that when you act or behave like this, someone is bound to come see you about it. Anyway what blows my mind is that you have fans of these bands who talk about, the darkest shit,love this shit, try to make like what they say is so real and important by expressing themselves through black metal and all it entails, but are outraged about murder and killings? You talk about all the evil and darkness but, condemn racism? As if that didnt have a roll to play in it all. Racism is predicated by hate. Is hatred not what BM is about? You dont get to pick and chose what evil you take on. It all works for the same underlining theme. Darkness and hatred. You listen to this music and express hatred towards this world but are baffled at the idea that someone would take this shit seriously and do something wild. Maybe you should wipe off your corps paint and drop your ideas and consider some other form of music. You shouldn’t adopt a concept like this and then speak of morals when it becomes too much. Im no BM elitist, but pyussie footin about such an extreme concept seems, I dont know fake? One of the biggest laughing points about this scene is how they are all evil, but in person they are all really nice guys.

It has some heavy political and social undertones and "picks sides" Characters are shown how the creators viewed them, not through their actions. Great movie, but Pelle and Euronymous fucking HATED each other, to the point that Euronymous was actively egging Dead on to kill himself. Kinda bothered me when watching it how they tried to make it seem like he cared about Pelle secretly all along. He didn't. Euronymous played a very large hand into Dead's death, and wasn't NEAR as much of a victim as they made him seem on the big screen.
