Clips about one of Jupiter's moons, Europa, and the possibility of alien life. These are from the show's "Journey to the Edge of the Universe" and "Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking - Aliens" as seen on the Discovery Channel.

I am inclined to believe this guy. What with him being Stephen Hawking and all. What would be REALLY interesting is if sentient ocean life developed there. Alien mermaids? Yes please?

***** Oh yes, yes i know. It doesn't surprise me though: the human scolex has a bad habit of generalizing things with umpteen variables of complexity, which is why they are still debating Panspermia vs.Abiogenesis; I figure they are both valid. Y'know provided that this reality isn't simulated and the reason we're here is to learn the basics of life and where our bodies REALLY are, so that when we die here and go back to home base, we'll find ourselves still toddlers with old rugged brains scuffed with life experience and knowledge needed to graduate to the learning modules of our new hyper-evolved, hyper tech super future; where a 500 IQ is average..-ahem- ANYWAYS...yes, if both abiogenesis and panspermia turn out to be solid, then I don't see it as too farfetched that nuggets of the same amino acids as our own have been planted in crannies all over the solar system, and some of them thrived. (What if the famous gray aliens are legit and it turns out they are from our system, busy hiding under terrain and we're their science project that they developed and use to see how diverse life can get and what the limiter is for life around a star like our Sun; because they desire to go and colonize that system too.

***** You try breathing 100% O2, even with earth-ish pressures you'll die of oxygen toxicity. Plus it's easy to make that out of just solar radiation and water... which there is no short of on Europa, so life is as of yet unconfirmed, although what is confirmed is that Tardigrade liek creatures (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tardigrade) could certainly live/breed there.

There are countless differences. For one, our moon doesn't have much water, if any. Europa, however, probably has a vast ocean anywhere from 3-16 miles under its ice. The friction created by the gravitational pulls of Io, Jupiter, and Ganymede head up Europa's core, causing the ocean. Because of the heating, there may be hydrothermal vents; the most likely place for life. However, Jupiter's magnetosphere may be trouble. Research is being done to understand how radiation would effect this.

Nicholas Cage has a moment of really bad acting when he gets bees poured all over him in this movie. He's like "Oh god no, no the bees! AAAAGH!!!" Look up "Wickerman not the bees" it's a good laugh ^^
