I think it just needs more blue orbs. The Pathless game had an abundance of traversal orbs, but it didn't detract from the overall picturesque environments.

I don't envy critics, I would feel so bad ever saying a game is bad, especially an indie.
@IcecteamOni-x4v2 ай бұрын
Why. It’s a profession to critique and to inform the public their opinions. A game made by a small team or even one individual doesn’t give it any exception. Hundreds of games are released every day made by individuals, small teams, and publishers. A game being made by one person shouldn’t be treated any different. Sure it’s more embarrassing and noteworthy for a triple A studio to release a buggy garbage 70$ game, but I’m not about to fork over or give praises to an indie that doesn’t meet my minimal standards. It just won’t be as surprising to expect one person to make a bad game. So many bad games are made each day by individuals and small groups. And a lot of these people aren’t ethically any better than triple A developers. Just less newsworthy. If random people and professionals in the field didn’t critique, we’d have to take a gamble each time we’d see a trailer, gameplay vids/cinematics and hope for the best. I can understand trying to appreciate one/small groups making a product. Though like with buying groceries for example, if the product sucks, it’s not gonna matter to me if it’s an unrecognizable brand made by one person in their garage vs a big name brand. But yeah point being, we shouldn’t be biased and feel awkward to give an honest opinion if it’s negative. Individual indie developers shouldn’t be lied to. If they want to grow and improve they deserve to hear honest criticism. We’ve already lost studios like Annapurna. We don’t expect any less from developers such as Team Cherry than any other Triple A. Small studios yet they earned an expectation of high craft to be created under development. Well sadly not Annapurna anymore. If team cherry delivers a broken silksong that’s significantly worse than it’s predecessor, than I’d speak as honestly and maybe even more disappointingly as I would with any mid Ubisoft game.

There should be a skate/slide mechanic on the ground similar to what Dreamlight Valley has. That way you can cruise along, not as fast as flying but faster than a trudge. And if you want to walk, you can
@thecactusman172 ай бұрын
That's a shame. Looking at the gameplay, it feels like they could do something with your other movement options to help you build flight energy while on the ground - that slide looks like a great candidate for a "flight charge" setup where you surf down a hill then blast off into the air.

It feels like the game would have benefitted if the flight mechanic recharged in a few seconds of being on the ground as well instead of at set points exclusively.

The good thing about the issues this game has is they can all be resolved fairly easily with some patches.They can make the energy naturally recharge, they can make more energy orbs, they can reduce the impact and quantity of enemies, and they can refine the traversal. The puzzles being simple isn't really an issue as the beloved Journey is also just as simple with it's puzzles. The game looks beautiful, it sounds great, and the story is sufficiently interesting. Hopefully they do address the issues that exist and allow this game to shine.

This definitely looks as much or more Castle in the Sky (first Ghibli film) than it is Journey, to me. There's definitely a lot of Journey in there, tho. (I think the robots in Castle in the Sky were literally called Gardeners?)

Yes but the gameplay sucks. It’s carried by story and art. Furthermore, it only lasts like 4 hours compared to a game that can last anywhere between 25-50 hours. They’re both mid for what they’re worth and average for their field in indies and triple A games.

The biggest problem with the running out of flight energy thing isn't that it kills the fun, it's that it also kills what little the game has for content. If you attempt what you think is a jumping puzzle leading to a collectible and fail there's no retrying that, at least not without finding somewhere to backtrack to to refill the energy and then laboriously walk back again because you need every bit of energy to try again. It totally buzzkilled the demo for me because you essentially get punished every time you leave the intended path.

Humans experience light logarithmically. Anyone who ever owned a camera can tell you that human-made light inside a room is tiny fraction of daylight under the sun, but for our eyes the difference is barely noticeable. That's why you need flash for most room pictures, while outside you can even take moving photos - like following a bird or running bunny and still take sharp picture without effort. tldr: 4% light is not significantly darker for human eyes.
