I can already see their effects: -Masters of the Lance: 2x Cavalry shock and 1.5x Cavalry Defense, 0.5x Cavalry Fire. -Heart and Shield of the Lord: -20% unrest if Religion Unity is 100% -Invest in the Western Far Poland: -10% cost of Development I'm thinking about some negative tax effect and a little debuff for siege but that would be my example of "National Ideas", the max Idea was a buff of +1 in all stats for general except siege (gets -2) and a more cheap cost for the assault to compensate that lack of siege points (that could be called "Learning to Conquer by the hard way")

Trade companies and colonial nations need to be "overseas," which usually means not on your capital continent. So you could move your capital to South Amafrica and get the Asian trade companies. Probably. But your capital also projects a radius of "not overseas" if it's near the edge of a continent, which is why Brazil didn't form, because it's in that close zone, but La Plata and Colombia did.
