Maybe consider, once all the basic questions have gone. To do a bit of a 'per expansion' advanced mechanics look? Which would not only be informative but also help people decide on whether they should or shouldn't pick up certain expansions necessarily.

An explanation of each mechanic in the expansions sounds good. I got this game and a few of the DLC's a while ago for 75% off, and I'd love an explanation of what else the game has to offer beyond just the core.

Didn't mention the Peace of Westphallia. If the league war white-peaces or doesn't fire for 30 years after the league forms, All christian denominations become valid HRE religions, removing the penalty entirely as long as they're christian AND allow Reformed, Orthodox, Coptics, and even Nestorians as Emperor. (not that you'll ever probably see a nestorian nation in normal gameplay as the religion doesn't exist unless you release a specific nation very early in the game before they lose their last core, in which case they have Nestorian as their official national religion and can potentially revive it).

Just last week I finished my Brandenburg run for the Ruina Imperii and An Early Reich achievements. Prussian Space Marines are quite fun. However, as my first HRE game, I found it very challenging to play a military campaign. Aggressive expansion and unlawful territory really curb your capacity for expansion (until you're able to take down coalitions on your own).

Quill, these were excellent. But if you have time, a video about your strategy when dealing with estates would be a great addition. I'm relatively new to the game and just picked up a bunch of DLC, so I'm playing with estates for the first time. I know the general idea, I think, but it's hard to tell which provinces I should give them for optimal play.
@thesherbet
@thesherbet 7 жыл бұрын
personally i just give all my centers of trade to the merchants and then only give the cheapest possible provinces to the others when they demand their usual minimum development, then just keep them balanced via events (ideally dont let them get above 70% influence in case of an event) and then just abuse their interactions when you need them ie free manpower/settlers/monarch points. You can largely ignore them for most of the game but they certainly have uses. Also if you grab a really high tax province but its got huge autonomy, consider giving it to the church estate (or whatever they get called in other cultures) since estates can negate autonomy in certain areas.

I'm new player. In my first long term run I've played as a Castile (per Quills suggestions). It went pretty well. Thing is that because HRE was far away I didn't pay any attention to it and didn't know their mechanics. In my second play through as a Poland I didn't noticed that Pomerania is HRE member. Didn't watch the entire video. But I think you forgot to mention some of the penalties of unlawful territory. Opinion penalty, revolt risk, etc. And also that the emperor will join on the defending side of any internal no-CB war. (The latter may come up rarely, but it's really confusing if you're just 'shopping around' for possible wars and suddenly see the emperor on the declaration screen.)
@wutrax1

also he didn't mention that you can avoid the unlawful territory by beeing at war. just declare another war and only make peace after you finished coring whatever you annexed in the first war

Does anyone know what could cause a nation to flip to a new religion? I recently played a game as Japan allied to a Shinto Oirat. I didn't complain, since being the same religion helped keep us allied, but I just thought it was weird to see it happen. Outside of the Reformation, I didn't think nations changed religions.

I tried the HRE game with a custom nation I made once, but the mid-game drag killed it for me. After I passed some 3 or 4 reforms, the religious reforms started and I just couldn't get IA at all, it was negative most of the times. For each country I attacked to flip their religion, two more converted. It was a major pain.
