The most in demand ja performer for years has been Johnny Osborne Why ? Because he’s got a catalogue of great songs and he’s got a great soul voice which still strong He’s now earning his reward financially when for decades he was ripped of by ja reggae producers Folk in Europe are not obsessed with labels “ reggae” “ dancehall “ All they want is good music with great beats with great drum and bass and positive and fun messages They don’t want folk they can’t understand nor do they want lewd and too slack lyrics nor profanity Antony b gets festival gigs around the world why ? Because his he’s got a varied catalogue of good music but his stage performance is one of the best . Europe festivals don’t want artist with the “ dash song “ practice when they are doing a stage performance

Blessings, bredda.... fully understand your outlook on the topic but can't agree 100% We are a sound system from jamaica 🇯🇲 and we played the Dancahall stage at #Rototom festival as a part of our Europe tour.... the thing with Rototom it that it is more of a REGGAE show, hence the likes of a lila , kabaka etc...( which are our more modern-day reggae embassadors ) along with the older greats.... Yes, "SOME" of the newer dancehall artists are not doing substantial music. i will agree... but just like "Yaksta" there are a few others who do represent and deliver very, very good real dancehall music. But the people don't support or endorse them as much as they do the ones who sing the 'canoe boat' music, lol We have many young artists who try with some good music but end up diverting to the choppa songs because they get NO LOVE ... so really, the PEOPLE have more responsibility for what's happening than the artists If the ppl weren't supporting the choppa music and the artist didn't see where they making crazy money from it... then THEY WOULD HAVE TO SING DIFFERENT LYRICS 🙏

Big up yourself bredda, I love how the i dem juggle on the festival.. does people really gravitating to the canoe boat music or a only Jamaican?….because In most club worldwide they’re not playing these music in mass, Afro beat seem to becomes the new dancehall music in the clubs.. I’ve been going to these festivals as a artist, Dj or patron and it’s the first in a long time there isn’t few current dancehall artists representing.. from reggae jam, summer jam, geel and the goes on.. something needs to change or else Jamaica music inna problem.. but me fully understand what you saying mi G..👊🏽👊🏽

@londonyardietv this new style of Dancehall is still kinda different to me cause me is a old school original youth and certain ones I just don't play or promote... if it only promotes foolishness or degrading women then I nah play it ... But as for the others lol it might not be stuff I can relate to... so I just respect the youth them and try give them some time and see if they can try get this new sound to be more YAAD MAN STYLE Plus our grandparents them almost catch fits, when them use to hear them bad #Buju deh ( Gal fi beg , skin dem out pon mi buddy head ) lol nah go even talk about #Shabba dem 😂 but those artist got accepted eventually, and became GIANTS ... so let's see what time does with this new generation yah man

You should be exposing the festival if they're saying dancehall and don't have any real dancehall artists on the stage. You know who was booked for the show. By the name you call, it sounds more like reggae music. As Jamaican, we need to support our own. Masicka, 1Byng, Popcaan, Alkaline, Mavado, Busy Signal, Aidonia, Shane O, etc, can not do a dancehall show in Europe. By what you said, the show had some reggae artists on the show. Show seh if weh yu seh did real a foolishness. Expose Beenie and Bounty yu nu knw weh yu a seh. If Beenie and Bounty do a show together in Europe r America, dat would a sell off and sellout. Go check the views pon Bounty and Beenie when dem do verzuz.

A few of those artist you mentioned have done festivals in Europe before. The point I’m making is that the current crop of artists that is dominating Jamaica in the past 7 years is not doing music that leaves Jamaica. All the man you called been doing music for almost 15 years..
@rohanclarke4036
@rohanclarke4036 Жыл бұрын
@londonyardietv it do not matter if they are making crap when you have other artists making good tune. The only time dancehall calls flop is unless Jamaican stops listening to reggae. If these shows are not supporting our dancehall artists, then they should not be having any dancehall. If they do not relate to these new artists, then why should we care so much that we are going to then dis our own. Stop putting these places on a pedestal. You should be more concerned about them not booking these artists because apparently the younger generation like them like 450, Kraft, Valiant, Chronic Law, Jahvalani, Jahshii, Skeng, Armani, etc. The point I'm trying to make is that you might not relate to their music, but a lot of others do. If you love reggae and dancehall, you should be more upset at these shows for not adding these artists. In my opinion, at this point, reggae and dancehall should have different genres. They call it trap dancehall. We got a few new artists that is doing good reggae like IByng, Nation Boss, Yaksta, etc.

Organisation: I think we can partially blame the fact that our Government over the years, has not recognised and sufficiently valued the power of the music. Artistes have independently been the producers and their own promoters of the music worldwide. Govt Trademarking of our main assets would also come with some restrictions in access to others, and would benefit Jamaica more by preventing sidelining of the original people. Saying that: I probably wouldn't find many NEW performers I would go see. There is no doubt that the standard has fallen.
