Wow! At last, someone has filmed the incredible flower market area of Riga Central Market! You simply can't do it justice with still photography. Whenever I visit Latvia I eat a lot of fish and the smoked mackerel has to be one of the tastiest. You eat it cold with fresh lemon juice squeezed on it and it is sublime in taste! 11:22 It's also good on that delicious Lāči (bears) rye bread with butter or cream cheese.

I think while Latvian tradition does find itself in the country you are taking away from the generations of Latvians that have lived only in Riga.
@laurandz4 жыл бұрын
There is no such thing as pure and in pure Latvian nationality (lol what - that’s a purely political term) and tradition. Rīgā is a Latvian city. Latvia has always been very multicultural, cosmpolitan and open. As has been the Latvian identity. After all - as neo-peasants, we declared ourselves nobles which be described as one of the more hilarious and ridiculous developments in newly independent Latvia.
@wiseguyexist3 жыл бұрын
@@laurandz funny you say that.. We recently did DNA tests within my family and turned out my grandparents are around 99.2% Latvian and I’m not far from that number either. I personally was hoping for a more exciting and diverse results considering our (Latvian) complex history that you also mentioned above. However, when building our family tree, we really couldn’t find any other influences. The natives of Latvia were farmers, servants, hunters and so on, the simple people that just always lived on this land for centuries and spoke their own language.

I Don't know why but you always remind me of Sting and "an englishman in NEW YORK" perhaps I am also an alien......As far as it concerns London (or Paris if you like) , I have been in London once, in 2004, as a tourist ( I am Greek) for 3 days, I was staying in a hotel in Bayswater, I remember walking all the way up to Backingham palace (on foot) and back, through the Hyde park, It was an excellent walk. however I was surprised then, from the number of people that I met and they were not English, I mean the majority of the people around Bayswater were from Asia or Africa, the shopkeepers also. I think, me friend, that London does not exist as an English Capital anymore, it is an International Capital, and this won't change, sorry. (p.s. same happens here in my city Athens, foreigners are about one third of the total population now).

Very well presented. When I was in Riga I predominantly heard the Russian language more than Latvian even. As much as I liked the quaint buildings I hated it there though in the evening. People were very aggressive. I didn't like them. Previously I was always polite to any Latvian in the UK. Not anymore! It is a wonderful feeling though being in a homogeneous society.
