They really went into the details of accessibility of certain parts of the resort given your comfort level and accessibility by public transport etc. Particularly useful! Do you need back country gear for the yellow rated free-ride zones? I am refering to a beacon, shovel and probe? Edit: I see that you have answered this later in the video. Is it easy to rent back country gear in the resort? It will be my first time doing true back country, full off-piste skiing. By the way, I love your videos. I have notifications turned on for all your videos. They are fantastic. Thank you so much for all the content and information you provide.

The times I went skiing there I had my normal piste ski gear, not my touring gear. I would suggest to have the shovel, probe and beacon on you when the avalanche danger exceeds level 2, at most 3. As far as I remember, there are also beacon test stands at some of the lift stations close to the freeride slopes.

4 Valleys is vast but once you leave Verbier the lift system isn’t quite as good. Good itinerary’s but most drag lifts. If you want a vast area with good connection nothing beats the 3 valleys in France. The off piste is better in Verbier though.

@kevinl844018 күн бұрын
@sigalemiri Ah yeah. I ski AltaBird almost every day and i do 2 weeks at Verbier a year. AltaBird is like a fifteenth the size of 4 Valles.
@sigalemiri18 күн бұрын
@@kevinl8440 A fifteenth!? Mountain perception can be tricky, especially with resorts located in such varied mountain ranges. I haven’t measured it exactly, but from topographical maps, it seems that if you combine all the skiable areas in 4 Vallées and remove the unskiable terrain, like cliffs or areas inaccessible from lifts, Alta and Snowbird might not be that much smaller in terms of acreage. Try comparing them at the same zoom level on open ski map for a clearer perspective.
@kevinl844018 күн бұрын
@@sigalemiri Dude I SKI THEM! Play with your MAPS all you want but you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about it. And a fifeteenth is being extremely generous to AltaBird. There is way more you can't ski at AltaBird than at 4 Valles. Have you even skied these resorts????
@sigalemiri18 күн бұрын
@@kevinl8440 A map provides actual data, which goes beyond a single person's opinion. And if you’re going to talk about these resorts, at least spell '4 Vallees' correctly.

I really would recommend 4 vallees above Zermatt any day. All the skiing between Plateau Rosa and Zermatt is booooring, the italian counterpart is even worse. The lifts on the Italy side are outdated asf, off-piste is a no-no on many spots as you're steps away from a glacier... Idk, all the high altitude terrain there is quite boring in my opinion. Mostly reds, wide and repetitive reds. No trees... A ton of km and beautiful iconic views, sure, but as far as skiing goes, not the best. Plus EXPENSIVE. At that point you might as well go to 4 vallees. I'm swiss and have been skiing around my country for years, Zermatt is way down near the bottom of my tier list.
