Ceasefires don't come easy when a "third party" comes to visit. Putin offered many times ways of stopping the Special Military Operation that he implemented and continues to prosecute. It is always up to Zelensky to agree but as Anglo-American politics would have it, it seems to come to naught, always! Orban's visit is nothing more than a '"pro-forma' diplomatic mission from EU" . After all, Hungary has a seat there (EU) and it is expected that it has to be driven to Kyiv while Ukraine still exists 'de jure'. Orban's visit is simply another exercise in futility, just like the laughable Swiss Peace Summit and other fancy conferences that amount to nothing! It's a free ride for presidents and prime ministers to visit another country, have a sleepover, and come home to detox. We're living in a sad world at the moment.

If Orban is asking Zelensky for a cease fire, then Russia definitely wants a ceasefire. But it's not gonna happen. Ukraine knows Russia would just abuse a ceasefire to re-constitute their military formations, re-arm themselves, and renew their attack on Ukraine when they feel ready. They would also dig in and build more defenses along the current front lines. Ukraine will negotiate peace in the absence of a ceasefire.

How is that not one Western media outlet ever mentions the fact that Zelensky 's government has forbidden the public use of minority languages (Russian, Romanian, Hungarian), affecting millions of people, and thereby ignoring the treaty of Minsk, guaranteed by the EU! Which was one of the two reasons Putyin started the war. (The land conquered by the Russians is ethnically Russian in about 80%.) So the EU is defending a nationalist and antidemocratic regime, not giving a damn about international law or the right for people's self-determination. Hypocrisy pure!

So President Volodymir Zelenski should come to terms with the notion that recuperating lost Ukrainian territory from the Russian Federation by military means might be a tall order. Consequently he would be best served agreeing a ceasefire along the lines of the breakaway Republics Luhansk Donetsk Zaparohzie and Kherson against the backdrop of United Nations supervised referendum being held having the residents of these regions decide which block they want to belong to either Ukraine European Union or alternatively Russian Federation. In addition exchange for showing this level of flexibility Ukraine should be rewarded with full European Union and NATO membership. If Prime Minister Viktor Orban can broker such a deal the Ukraine and the Western Alliance would be better for it. Thank you very much and enjoy your afternoon ☺️☺️
