In any case, today's Russia is not the same as the communist Soviet Union. But many people don't seem to have realized that yet. And did you know that this close connection between Germany and Russia has always been a thorn in the side of the Americans (and "Western powers") because they feared that together they could become a superpower. When NATO was founded in 1949, its first Secretary General, the Briton Lord Ismay, said that the alliance should "keep the Americans in, the Russians out - and the Germans on the ground". The politician being criticized is not transsexual, but a man in women's clothing, a transvestite. He is also listed in the German Bundestag's electoral roll with his male first name - but it is punishable by law not to call him that. That is crazy and arbitrary. If he were actually transsexual and had undergone gender reassignment surgery, he would be accepted. And by the way: In Germany, you cannot change your name or only under very, very limited circumstances. But recently you can change your gender once a year - just by going to the residents' registration office (a psychological report or proof of gender reassignment is not required) - and then your name too. That is crazy! And we will reverse it! Every truly transsexual person should be helped with the reassignment, but things like this make the whole thing ridiculous and also harm people who really struggle with their gender identity and have serious psychological problems. They have to deal with the backlash caused by people like "Tessa Ganserer".

German policy was that it is better to engage the ideological competitor than to isolate from them. This worked extremely well in Eastern Europe, where the spoils of market economy and the freedoms of a liberal society produced an enormous draw. It worked less well (on the surface) with China or, let's say, Saudi Arabia. However, it worked well enough to make iliberals like China, Saudi Arabia or the AfD forget that the current regime of international trade is based on decisively liberal principles as well as the dominance of the US.

Absolutely correct. Putin has no regard for international law and tramples on the rights of other countries. Just witness his invasions of Georgia in 2008 and Ukraine in 2022 in violation of international law.

The problem is, that the law is a disgrace in this regard to perform the legal name change. If I recall correctly, you need to answer plenty of weird questions that have nothing to do with the name change itself and it's more about the private life of the person. Hence, Tessa did not go that far to not experience this disgrace.

Not many things are comical when you have so many military casualties. Trust me. It's a stress for a country. Russia is under a huge stress for 2,5 years now. Plus huge number of sanctions. Imagine the overall atmosphere in USA if they lost so many soldiers and military equipment in just 2,5 years in TODAY'S world. Their president would be literally risquing his LIFE with such loses!
