Storm Henk has brought major flooding to France, Germany and parts of the UK.
Nottinghamshire County Council has declared a major incident due to rising levels along the River Trent and told residents who live in flood-risk areas to prepare to evacuate.
The river’s peaks “could come close to the highest levels on record from the year 2000”, the council said as it warned of flooding to property and roads after Storm Henk. Part of the A1 in Nottinghamshire was closed because of flooding near the village of Elkesley. Eight hundred homes were without power on Wednesday evening.
