Budapest at #4 is a joke. Budapest in the top #20 would be a joke. We were just there and it was the worst CM we have been to. Someone is getting incentives to prop up this market in their reviews. All cities you go to for CM have a Christmas vibe everywhere. Unless you were at the main markets it did not feel like Christmas. They rave about Fashion Street, which is pretty but it’s 2 blocks long. St Stephen’s is nice but small. Vorosmarty ter has very few vendors. You leave these areas and there is no twinkle light decorations especially in the Old Town areas. To be rated high reeks of pay off. Most of the towns are devoted to the Market but did not experience anything close as I am experiencing in: Vienna, Salzburg, Colmar, Strasbourg, Nuremberg and numerous other towns. My opinion only and would recommend going to Budapest for Budapest not for their over rated CM.
