"Albayrak from Turkey" should be "for Turkey", as he used to fight for Greece as Roman Moustopoulos and originally is a Georgian (Wano Revazishvili), who's born in Kazakhstan.

And officially Turkeys english name is now Türkiye so they don't get confused with turkeys i guess 😂

It's getting silly with countries buying players like soccer/competitors swapping countries like undies. Sounds like it wouldn't hurt if some rules were changed to accommodate some competitors.

@@merkins87 Turkey or Türkiye, as I've just learned, brings it to another level. They buy athletes in many disciplines and give them Turkish names so they can show off what a superior country they are. I can understand, that some strong competitors who do not get a chance in their home country start for other nations. I don't think it's bad per se as it allows more great sportsman to compete on the highest level.

@@Ppharrer96 creates a talent drain in poorer parts & discourages local talent in developed nations. Utilising the points system in judo would be a fairer way to create eligibility & would stop the unnecessary emigration. 2 things really bother me: 1) Maruyama not getting the chance to compete at Olympics 2) Hypocrisy, in punishing Russia but then pretending Turkey, Azerbaijan or Israel don't do far worse, due to their investment in judo

The first pick up and flip from Grigalashvili on Djalo hurt my back just watching it. What an animal !? Rag dolling the opponent and the flexing flair after...

It's a world level competition and he's trying to complete the throw, you don't know if the opponent is grounded in the heat of the moment and as it's happening dynamically. If you can't stomach watching this and want to disrespect athletes, go watch ballet.

Heydarov’s kataguruma in the final should have been ippon, i mean, he had speed, control and everything

I see they’re getting much more flexible with the head diving rule, many got away with even if it was a textbook hansokumake Apparently they let it go if you have no choice but to touch

Great video ! Don't you think that the armbar of Grigalashvi against Djalo is on the shoulder ?
@JudoHighlights2015
@JudoHighlights2015 Жыл бұрын
I don’t think so… his arm was barely elevated off the mat so he’d have to be pretty inflexible to tap from that

i'm not usually fan of banning rules but this time, the weird kata guruma of heydarov looks terribly dangerous for the knee... i dont know if it should be permitted. (plus the fact that it is one of the most common judo injury.)

In my opinion, the Tomoe Nage against Ressel is a clear Hansokumake.

It was a legitimate Tomoe Nage performed well, blue gi guy decided to stick his head out instead of tucking his chin in.

@@JudoHighlights2015 I still think too many Judoka are getting bounced on their heads and/or necks. I think there were 3 just in this one video. We had Inchul Cho as a coach briefly, and he was a beast. I later found out he got thrown with a drop morote seioi nage by the venerable T. Koga back in the 90’s and had to have his neck fused from that. So its nothing new, I guess. They banned drop seioi nage for under 18’s in the USA for a long time, but I think its back now, unfortunately.

@@bartofilms Actually, the only time I got my neck destroyed was from a drop seoi nage in New Zealand. But here in Japan, kids are doing it as young as 5 and I've never really seen any injuries from it.

@@JudoHighlights2015 If the instruction is good and new Judokas are taught to finish the dropping throw with correct amount of twist, there's no problem. I noticed Jessica K. posted some lawn dart morotes from a B roll of her practice sessions on IG. As a nobody, I asked in the comments why she wasn't finishing those throws cleanly. She then proceeded to beat a string of opponents with perfect seioi throws, planting her ukes perfectly on their backs. I doubt it was my comment, but I was so happy to see it. In self-defense, or combat, I totally get it, but in shiai or competition we must try to keep our ukes healthy, no?

It depends, it's legal as long as you have a valid grip above Ukes belt. If you'd block the leg with your elbow without a proper grip, it'd be no score plus shido.
