Thanks for the speed drills. Great incentive for me to push harder and train my mouth to utter correct Portuguese at conversational tempo. I will apply this method to my learning.

Wow ... It's not enough that people speak so fast in Portugal ... so you also have to change suffixes and connect words..it makes speech so fast, without being able to stop for a moment to breathe between words :) This is called: If you have something to say, say fast and if not, then shut up! It seems to me that the Portuguese, even in a state of silence, are doing it fast! (: These lessons are really welcome and the composition of the words in your sentences is admirable, well done! Very enjoying and very very very helpful and really find myself already applying on my own and naturally what you taught us. Suddenly all the S becomes Z in the right place etc ... Thank you very very much ! Awsome Work MARIA

Olá, Carmen, muito obrigada pelo comentário. 😊 Yes, there's the catch! I think the key to understanding spoken language better is to know which words are connected because when pronounced at a normal pace, a whole group of words may sound like one singel word. Practice makes perfect! :)

Hi Maria, I love the way you have drawn attention to the connected chunks/ phrases.. I had observed this more recently and become acutely aware of it as a way of learning...... its great you are using it as a teaching method, your the first I have seen to do that..... I think its probably the same in most languages, I like the idea of learning in chunks and phrases the way children do.... this seems perfect for speech, obviously reading and writing are another thing entirely....

Yes, I find it essential both for improving listening comprehension and speaking skills. Glad you enjoy it! 🌞🌻

@@portuguesewithmaria I agree. Breaking the sentences into chunks for the purpose of pronunciation really helps to learn to speak it properly. And, it makes a lot of sense to do it that way.

Hello Maria, and thank you so much for these FANTASTIC videos -- the best pronunciation videos I have found anywhere, in any language. I do have one question for you. When you say the same phrase 15 times in a row, faster and faster, what are we supposed to do? If I try to speak along with you, I can't hear you... but if I don't speak along with you, I don't have time to practice it myself between repetitions. Should I pause the video after each repetition, try to say it myself, and then start the video again? Anyway, I only ask because I'm sure you have a preferred method, and I'd like to do it in the way you suggest. Muito obrigado!!!

Concordo contigo que a melhor maneira de melhorar a pronuncia é repetir e atuar em voz alta... Mesmo se consigo ter a pronúncia que tú tens (fiquei surpreso quando aprendi que não eras portuguesa), então é que o teu método tem jeito!! Obrigado por estes videos. Muito esforço, muito trabalho para nosso benefício.

@portuguesewithmaria Жыл бұрын
Atuava no passado, posso imitar o que quiser, at]e a l]ingua que não conheço, mas essa versão não me interessa. O som do português patrão parece mais a minha línua materna, sérvio, e é por isso que o prefiro e sinto me "em casa".
