When making whipped cream, use a stainless-steel bowl. Put the bowl and mixing beater(s), and in the freezer for at least 30 mins. This works for whipping cream because as the cream is whipped, it's the fat globules that bond with one another, trapping air in the process. A chilled bowl, especially metal, helps the fat to firm up and bond together more easily.
@seaneendelong8065Күн бұрын
Andre, BEST ADVICE HERE. Especially in temperate weather or warmer zones, this will make it possible to have whipped cream happen vs beat forever with meh results.

You're doing the modern adaptation of banana pudding. The old fashioned banana pudding was my mom's signature dish for every potluck. Banana Pudding Recipe 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup flour 1teaspoon salt Combine these ingredients in a saucepan Add 3 egg yolks and 1 whole egg and beat until well combined Place pan on stove over low heat and slowly add 2 cups of whole milk. Stir constantly until it starts to thicken and coats the back of your spoon. Take off heat add 2 tablespoons of butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, mix and let cool. Place some plastic wrap on top of the pudding mixture to keep a film from forming on top. Meanwhile beat your 3 egg whites in a large bowl Add 1 teaspoon of cream of tartar if you have it. Slowly add 1/4 cup of sugar slowly as it starts to look like foam increase speed to high and beat until stiff peaks form. How layer cookies, banans then pudding. Repeat layers and finish off with cookies. Spoon meringue over cookies. Use back of spoon to create peaks in the meringue. Bake at 400 degrees until peaks start turning brown. Keep your eyes on it because it will happen fast. Let cool and refrigerate. I like my cookies to soften up. I hope you enjoy. You will find that this recipe is not very sweet. 😊

Bring to a boil and boil 1 minute. Add in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Pour liquid over the dry ingredients and stir until thoroughly combined. Drop by spoonfuls onto cookie sheet. Refrigerate. I've been binging these videos of you making American food, and I think I found a pattern. It seems like the most common American foods follow a pattern: combine two things (macaroni + cheese, chicken + dumplings, biscuits + gravy, grilled cheese + tomato soup) and add cream, cheese, and/or butter. ESPECIALLY butter. And the more you add, the better. Sometimes sugar as well, whether cane sugar or brown sugar depends on the recipe. Not all American foods follow this pattern (this one, for example, does not really combine things, and the chicken fried steak doesn't combine foods per se but cooks one food in the style of another. And deviled eggs? You don't really combine two different foods there, you just mix a bunch of things into egg yolk). And maybe a lot of them have a liquidy component? Cheese, gravy, soup, a lot of them involve a solid and a liquid-like substance. (Again, deviled eggs are the odd one out here). Or maybe I'm reading too much into it because it's 2AM. Also, have you ever had a root beer float? It's not really something that's worth an entire video since it's easy to make and doesn't really involve any cooking. Just put some vanilla ice cream in a cup or glass and pour root beer on top until the glass is full. It's quick, easy, and fun. You get to drink it AND eat it with a spoon!

@bluetinsel7099Күн бұрын
Typically Nilla Wafers are used and are the perfect cookie for banana pudding so you’ll have to try them sometime. As for your mixer the Japanese one would have been good and splattered less with both mixers on them. The reason you typically cool it is to get the right texture, but it’s good you enjoyed a traditional recipe.

Without using cream, one can instead use Greek (thick) banana yogurt with Cool Whip slowly folded together. Put fresh blended bananas with some small pieces that are crushed a bit into the yogurt and Cool Whip mix by folding it slowly into the overall pie filling mix. Buy a gram cracker pie dish from the store and slowly spoon the pie filling mix into the gram cracker pie dish. Refrigerate for a hour without covering it and it's ready to cut and eat. One can always dress-up the top by putting an add-on such as thin sliced banana strips, however, do this just before serving. Other toppings can dress-up and add taste! 😋

No room to make pudding *sigh* BUT... you're inspiring me to figure a way! I know those cookies you used - you can get them in Hispanic stores - or if you're near a Russian/Eastern European store, Alyonka or Alyonuschka biscuits work wonderfully. Slightly less sweet than Nilla Wafers. Wow, André - you're becoming more of a Yankee than I am! lol

I have never regretted using a mixing bowl that might be bigger than I needed. If you are going to cook a lot, I recommend a mixing bowl set including a big one (metal is best imo). You are doing well, just realize there is a learning curve.

You need a deep bowl when using a hand mixer, lol. Love your kitchen adventures! I make banana pudding with a cooked custard, sliced bananas and Nikola wafer cookies. I’m sure your cookies were great in the pudding! Much love from Indiana USA ❤️🇺🇸

How about Key Lime Pie, or Shepherds Pie? In my opinion, adding corn to the Shepherds Pie takes it to a whole new level of goodness! Also, have you tried Candied Bacon? I'm not sure how wide spread that one is, or even if it's an American invention lol. And lastly, maybe try Monkey bread? It might have different names out there. It's super sweet and I love it!

You are a true artiste in the kitchen with a Bob Ross flair. Banana pudding is food for the soul. Great job with this recipe! I couldn't help but laugh when the pudding went everywhere while you were mixing it. That happens a lot in kitchens. Try placing a kitchen towel over the mixer while mixing, it will help with the splatters.

😅 OMG! André, you need a deeper mixing bowl and start on the lower speed of the mixer. I would leave 29 likes if I could. Looks so delicious.
