European's FIRST IMPRESSIONS of California 🌴

First time in the US and we have some REACTIONS! I wanted this episode to be a little insight into what is like to experience classic Americana as a European for the very first time. We ate american breakfast, we hopped on our convertible Mustang, we ordered coffee drive-through style (from Starbucks of course), and finished this week around LA in the best fashion!

You can't really think of America as a country when visiting. It's more like a continent. Each area has it's own culture, music, food, in some cases languages, dialect, accent, and vibe. The geography and landscapes vary greatly The people are diverse and very different from each other. You could travel all over America for the rest of your life and still miss out on quite a bit here.

I've lived in L.A. my whole life (except during my military service) and I HATE IT!!!! Loud, dirty, dangerous, homeless. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. Maybe I shouldn't be as down on my hometown as I am. Still, when I retire, I'm getting the hell out.

This women sucks 😂 do you know how many green spaces, parks,bike and foot paths wr have here? Trails lakes etc. You went to the most congested city in America. And even la has amazing walking trails and parks, also the vegetables? Go to a farmers market, get them fresh from a natual groceries. Tons of fresh here. Its a agricultural country. Cars...well everything's bigget here.

As others have said, November is definitely not growing season and probably a lot of stuff is either grown in hot houses or shipped from Mexico. The central valley of California is one of the largest vegetable/citrus, rice, almond growers in the US. We actually ship rice to Japan. We feed half of the US with our vegetable/citrus. (Florida also). To get a good representation next time, drive north and stop at a local fruit/vegetable stand on the side of the road where the farmers have picked it fresh that day. Otherwise, your enthusiasm for the US was nice.

Hang out in California, Arizona, New Mexico, or Nevada in August or on the east coast, midwest, Florida, or the South during a heatwave and you'll understand why we like ice in our drinks.

Chicago is very walkable and has a very good public transportation system. You should visit sometime. I recommend the warmer months. May - September.

I grew up in a suburb of Los Angeles and have lived here my whole life. What I saw from your video, you did see typical LA. I'm stumped by some of the comments saying you did not see the real LA. I hope you tried mexican food while here. It is very different from most other cuisines.

The thing about LA is that its so massive you can go 100 times and have 100 diffrent versions of the same place. It's constantly reinventing itself. But the weather, the food, and the people are always a constant 10/10.

The true beauty of America is you can be born in a state where the weather is like Finland but if you don't like it you can move to a place that has weather like Northern Africa and all you need is the money to move. We all speak the same language for the most part and practice fairly similar cultures so it's really not too hard. I feel bad for Canadians sometimes because they're sorta stuck with the snow, but I'm not. I've lived in America's Siberia, but also in California. It's hugely different. If you ever want to come back and visit a somewhat more similar environment to Europe (Culturally and weather-wise), try the Pacific Northwest. People are generally a little more reserved and it's generally more overcast and colder. Seattle is smaller and more compact and they're slowly trying to integrate more public transit. Wandering around the neighborhoods in Seattle can be a lot more relaxing than LA and there's a lot less tourist traps. People are always going to be friendly, but it's nice to experience different parts of "American Culture". Every region has it's little differences. And, as an America, I often get out of my car and go in because the Drive-Through (I refuse to spell it "Thru) is jam-packed. But i pride myself on that and I know I'm an outlier because...otherwise there wouldn't always be a line outside with zero line inside.

Also we have almost 133,000 square miles of National parks, 29,063 Square miles of state parks, and countless city parks. There is about 181 city parks in Los Angeles alone. Some are nicer than others. We have just under 13 million square miles of forest and grasslands. Obviously not all of it is accessible to the public. There are lots of green spaces here.

Every country baby -- there's actually lots of public transit in LA, like any other major city in the G7. All you have to do is turn on your cell phone and turn on the GPS, and tell it where you want to go, and it will tell which buses to get on. 🙂 I am from the San Francisco Bay Area, and don't know how to drive, and I can get around LA just fine, trust me. 🙂 Vehicle sizes -- starting in 2035, you won't be able to buy a new model-year car in California that is not zero emission, even if it's an SUV. A large SUV isn't hurting the environment if it is battery powered. 🙂 Food -- what you need to do is use the Michelin Star Guide if you want the absolute best restaurant you could possibly visit. There are over 600 Michelin Star restaurants in Los Angeles; considered by the French to meet their standards. As far as bad tasting vegetables, I couldn't tell you. That's a matter of opinion, I suppose. I have eaten salads assembled in Europe and flown out here, and didn't notice any particular advantage. 🙂

THIS. I use public transit pretty frequently in the US. Is it perfect? No. Does it have its limitations? Yes. Is it still a good viable option? Very much so.

The reason our vegetables taste like plastic is you are actually eating vegetables that were grown in South America. They are picked about 4 weeks before they are ripe so that they will be ready when they finally hit the store shelves. On the other hand, if you go to a farmer's market in season you can buy vegetables there that taste the same as Europe. My advice is to bury your salad in our myriads of different salad dressings. That will fix it. Just kidding. Buy frozen vegetables in the freezer section. You will find them much fresher.

LA has some areas that are very walkable. Echo Park, Highland Park, Downtown LA, West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Long Beach etc. But the spaces in-between those places are not.

Our "green spaces" are inside our suburbs. They are called "front yards" and "back yards." Also you will usually have a selection of about 5 city parks within a 30 minute walk from your house. If 30 minutes of walking is too much for you, you will probably die young. Get out there and walk, girl. Exercise that aorta.

American vegetables do not taste like plastic and you only went to Los Angeles, when the United States is thousands and thousands of miles and it's like 50 countries in one. The United States grows some of the most incredible vegetables in the world and they are shipped all over the world. United States grows high quality vegetables fruits and nuts that are shipped all over the entire world.

You can also see even in this video as she is walking she passes a park and a bus stop. Also as a person who has lived in the USA and many places in Europe, places that are not built in such close proximity are not walking friendly when in relation to shops and groceries. They 100% require cars in any area where people own land around their property.

It was in Costa Mesa/newport beach ca. 30 miles south of Los Angeles. I just don’t think she realized she was in a rich suburb of a 20 million people metro area.
