English family visit the U.S.A for the first time from Canada, we share our first trip to America and what shocked us. Another tongue in cheek humour about the thrill of visiting the United States of America for the first time.
We highlight the differences we found between living in England and being new immigrants to Canada. Our first trip to America was in 1992 and we drove from Ottawa crossing into upstate New York.

I've lived in Canada my whole life. What shocks me when I go to America is how friendly the American people are-- all races. Americans are harder working than we are, they give service with a smile; they are quick to invite you into their home. They give more to charity; they are the first to help out. Sad that this magnificent country is turning all this hate on themselves. Haven't been state side for a number of years-- I bet Old Glory isn't displayed with pride anymore. I hope I'm wrong.

We still have the same pride in our country with flags on homes and bridges (still see that since 9/11 when there was a flag on every bridge and car). We don't let our biased media paint us all with their broad brush. And thanks for compliment about working hard, yes too hard, often with skimpy vacations which isn't good.

yet the leftist media is pushing the agenda that the United States is the most racist country and if you are flying the US flag you are a white supremacist. I know it's not true and it is very sad to see unfolding. I was born and raised in another country, moved to the USA when I was in my 30s. So I can compare and contrast.

True story about a Walmart greeter... an elderly chap applied for the job and as he seemed to be articulate, we]] mannered and bright, he got the job. He picked it up very quickly and within a few days he could tell shoppers exactly where to go to in the store for whatever they wanted in a pleasant and outgoing fashion. The management were very pleased with him, except for one thing... and at his first review, after about a month, his line manager praised him, except that he was always ten minutes late for work. 'Of course, ' explained the old boy, 'there's absolutely no point in me being there for the first ten minutes after we open, because there's never any customers in the first ten minutes.' 'Oh I see,' said his boss 'and tell me, what happened in your last job if you were regularly ten minutes late for work? Eh, just tell me that.' And the old boy replied 'Oh well, in that case, a girl came into my office and said, 'Are you ready for your coffee yet, Admiral?''.....

I worked in the Netherlands in the past and was surprised and dismayed at how negatively the United States was portrayed in its photo books. We see books in the U.S. with general themes of "America, the Beautiful", while those books showed some of that, but mostly slums, guns, and crime. It really opened my eyes as to how others view us and of course some of that is true. Almost every European visitor who has stayed with me was surprised how much better it is than what he/she expected. I especially remember one disabled friend (wheelchair) who was amazed at all the accommodations for the disabled here (ramps, auto doors, bathroom stalls, parking spots).

The gift-wrapped houses made me giggle out loud. Many years ago I met a little boy visiting from Denmark with his family. I asked him what he liked most about the US. As an American myself, it's easy to see that so many other Americans have been conditioned to dislike and in some instances hate the United States. So many of our institutions like education, entertainment, and media teach our youth that the United States is inherently evil, only because of it's imperfections. Nobody teaches anybody to hate America. Only that you should not be ok with treating women to be subservient to men, that people from a different race should be given the same treatment as you get, and that gender identity is a personal matter and not a reason to mistreat someone. Many Americans are not enjoying your freedom, so reflect why people are angry and protesting and see that it is a very American thing to do

Americans did fight hard for there independence. The British coloniest committed treason for a better life. Came and stole the land from the true native Americans by genocide( Indian removal act/ trail of tears) dishonored treaties over and over and over again. Built a large portion of there wealth through the poor back of slaves atleast in the south. Not all where evil but people like you who make this country seem so great when in reality alot of evil had to be done to enjoy this country that wasn't yours to begin with.
@ShamblesMD
@ShamblesMD 2 жыл бұрын
@@newlife45692 You act like that's something new. Rome owned half the world, and before them Macedonia, and before them The Persians with Cyrus the Great. Colonists were just that, farmers and tradesmen who actually had to live with the Native Americans. Things like genocide happen because of the actions of a few in power and miscommunication between the masses. Human nature will always take the easiet path to create a society, even at the cost of slavery and genocide, which are both still rampant today.

What shocked me on my first trip to England back in the Summer of 1978 was that you could go to the "chip shop" and get a big bag of "scrumps" for just 2 Pence! For those unfamiliar, scrumps are odd bits of leftover batter from fish & chips and smaller and broken pieces of chips (french fries). Sprinkled with salt and vinegar, it was absolutely scrumptious - especially to a young kid without much pocket money (allowance). Another shocker was that milk was actually delivered to your front doorstep in glass bottles. There was never a need to worry about the milk spoiling either, due to Britain's reliably cool climate. The milk was pasteurized but not homogenized, so the cream would float to the top, just under the foil cap. The high point of every morning was pouring the thick cream into my coffee... you just couldn't have a bad day when it starts off like that!

❤️❤️❤️ I subscribed after yall started talking. I love my country and my state, Florida. It made my heart swell to hear such kind comments. I, too had braced myself, for what was going to be said. Mostly all we hear is what is wrong with the USA and Florida. Not the truly wonderful things that make them so terrific! You two are so adorable and just so sweet and kind. Thank you! Love your shirts!

Thank you so much for watching and commenting, we want to be positive and upbeat. We grew up in the 60’s in England and watched American TV shows and we really wanted to visit America and we were not disappointed p. Let’s keep politics out of life experiences.

Both of you are so sweet. Thank you for this video but most of all I am so glad you enjoyed your trip to the U.S. Flags? Oh YES! There are flags everywhere. I love them. Americans are proud of this country. There may be a lot of things wrong with America, but there is a whole lot more that is right. Born and raised here, I am very blessed. I would feel terrible and surprised if you weren't treated nicely. I'm glad to hear you were. I have lived overseas as well and that makes me so much more grateful for what I have and what I enjoy. Things are bad now, and that's what you hear mostly, however, you are also getting news from news media that only want us to feel that it's hopeless. I lived in Arizona where thousands of Canadians flock to in the winter months and they love it. We enjoy having them too. America enjoyed having you and hope you return and are able to see other parts of America.

I love your channel! As an American, your story of buying beer at a gas station reminded me of one of my first visits to Canada. I was dating a Canadian who lived in Vancouver and stopped at a grocery store to buy some beer after I got across the border. I probably circled the grocery store three times trying to find the beer section before giving up. We are now happily married and living in Victoria BC. And now I know to go to the liquor store to buy beer.

It’s so nice to hear what this friendly couple thought of their visit to the U.S. I think we Americans take a lot of things for granted, and we need to be more grateful for our country. I wish this sweet couple much more adventures, and thank them for sharing their experiences.

Visiting Los Angeles from our home in Alaska for Christmas we had lots of strange looks as the kids went swimming in the ocean. But in fairness it was about 65-70 F. Someone finally bothered to ask where we were from and then decided maybe we were okay parents. Thanks for the Myrtle Beach story.

@@johnglue1744 That is true. You get a 20% discount on everything when you go to Canada. Plus you can drink when you are 18 and that draws the college crowds for the weekend

Several years ago my wife and I went on a trip to Washington, D.C. From there we went to see Monticello. It was April the temperature was just under 60 F. We were standing with others visitors as our tour guide arrived, she asked where everyone was from. As each answered we took note of the winter garments that these folks from NY, ME, OH and other more northern States. Then when my wife and I standing there in shorts and tee shirts said Atlanta, Ga. Everyone looked at us strangely. Too which we were astonished, I mean really it was 60 F degrees. We could not understand how they could stand having so much clothing being from colder locations than us.
