What an INCREDIBLE day for Italian athletics. The crowd were vocal and passionate and generated such a great atmosphere also. I really thought these championships would be weakened and flat with the Olympics so close, but no chance. Yesterday was one of the most memorable day of athletics I have EVER seen. Thank you for this Rome and thank you to all the fine Italian athletes who gave more than their all yesterday.

What Tentoglou is talking about at 8:10 is the build-up to his last two jumps. He achieved a new lifetime best and championship record of 8.65 meters on his 5th jump. By the time of his 6th jump, he knew he'd already won the gold medal and didn't need to jump again, but the 8.65 was just 1 centimeter off the Greek national record, so he went for it. It was another huge jump. The atmosphere was electric as everyone waited for the measurement which, after an agonizing wait, came to exactly... 8.65 meters AGAIN! The look on his face was priceless, like "are you freaking kidding me???" 🤣🤣🤣

It shows clearly in the second slow reply 🙄🙄🙄 And it's her best shot.... All of the 5 valid jumps of Miltos Tentoglou were better than the best jump of this year. Before the final the best jump was 8.41 of Ehammer from the qualifying round. Tentoglou jumped: 8.42, foul, 8.49, 8.45, 8.65 and again 8.65! How about that? Fun fact: Tentoglou hasn't yet Greece's National Record which is 8.66 and is held by Louis Tsatoumas since 2007!

Who knows why about black or mixed Americans/French/English athletes, no one says anything, but comments are written about mixed or first generation black Italian (like Chituru-Ali). None of them is naturalized, are ALL born in Italy and ALL with mother or father Italian (Jacobs, Simonelli and Furlani), just Chituru-Ali is "all" black BUT is born and raised in Como (Lombardy), so is more Italian than any Italian-American (or whatever), who says he is Italian but KNOWS NOTHING about Italy, NOTHING on culture and NOTHING on language. Regarding Jacobs, despite having injuries since he was 20 years old (he had to abandon the long jump for this reason), has 2 Olympic gold medals, a World silver and 2 European gold medals, indoor instead has 1 World gold and 1 European gold; people who talk about doping (almost always Americans and English, you have no shame really), don't know anything about him and his sports career.

Ali should have been dq for jump start but only got a yellow card. Or did they change it after?

After getting a falsestart reaction 0.88 in the first attempt, Ali got an extra life due to home country advantage. When did the start giving yellow cards gor clear false starts? New rule? Going back to the old rule, one personal false start is ok?

@@Tiokamparen I mean, he had moved on the blocks before the false start, they probably gave his the yellow card for that instead of a DQ because of the false start. I aint mad at that, always thought that you should admit one false start in finals, not one each, but one in general. The tension is just so much and I think we've missed some great performances because of this dumb rule

10.03 is not that impressive this close to the Olympics tbh....Jacobs may get to the final but he certainly won't medal.

Seems pretty strange to say he *certainly* won’t medal. 10.02 on its own isn’t particularly noteworthy, but if you pay attention to his progression he’s clearly getting faster (he was running 10.1 just recently). He doesn’t need to be running 9.9 or 9.8 right now. The Olympics aren’t for another 2 months yet, and he’s looking like he could be running comfortably under 10 seconds by then at this rate.

@@thunder300-v6v Sadly, Turkiye, with more than 80m people, has few top athletes in T&F, though you are doing well in team sports. You have the HR to be in the top 6. Focus on that, and don't try to steal a small country's pride.
