@@francescostano4445 Correction: a very, very tiny subset of Americans don't appreciate her. The large majority of Americans don't follow Track & Field, so they are indifferent to all athletes (but would probably prefer American athletes if asked because of patriotism). I would say that most of the actual American T&F fans would prefer Americans to win (again: patriotism), but can certainly appreciate talents from other countries (heck, the NCAA is the biggest international talent pool). Then there is a tiny group of toxic Americans online, some are overly patriotic, some suffer from the White Knight Syndrome, but most are just trolls and not T&F fans at all. By the way, that last group exists on both sides of the fence, there are some toxic Dutchies online too ...

@rientsdijkstra42663 ай бұрын
@@juliocortazar8143 Yep, she butchered that one, and was far below her own level. Reason: choices... If she had wanted to have a chance against mcLaughlin she should have abstained from the Mixed Relay final. She did not make that choice and tried to force it in the hurdles final and got burnt for it. You can't do that against McLaughlin.. But on the other hand: she did get a Gold medal (+ a Bronze and a Silver)...

@@rientsdijkstra4266 You mean she chose to receive an epic kick butting from mclaughin???? Not forgetting that she had another dose int the women 4 x 400...
@rientsdijkstra42663 ай бұрын
@@juliocortazar8143 You really need that "kick butting" stuff to prop up your little ego, don't you? But anyway, no I don't think Femke "chose" to get her butt kicked, I think she miscalculated, and I think that she and her team should do well to really analyse what went wrong... And no she did not get "another dose" in the 4x 400. It was always clear that a US ( a country with 330 million inhabitants!) has as talent pool to pick from that is so much wider that the Netherlands (18 million, or hardly 5% of the people) would never stand a chance. However did Femke get her but kicked in the womens 4x400? Nope. She new that there was NO chance to catch the Americans so she simply professionally brought home the silver: stayed behind a clutch of slower runners, and finished it of with a little sprint to the line. No butt kicking involved... However in the mixed 4x400 Femke ran a 47.93 in a tactical race, where she ran the first 200 with little arms swing (= not on full power) also waiting for a group of forerunners, and only went into overdrive on the last 100 meter to overtake her forerunners to get the Gold. McLaughlin on the other hand had a free run, and clearly gave full power to make the gap so big that Bol would have no chance to do her trademark comeback run in the anchorleg.

Sydney has just run the 400 in 48.75 in New York!
@DarklordZagarna5 ай бұрын
It's asinine that World Athletics makes it so hard for athletes to run both the 400 and 400 hurdles. Sydney and Femke would easily go 1-2 in both of them if the schedule allowed it. Men's isn't quite so clearcut but Warholm, Benjamin and Dos Santos would at least be serious medal contenders at a bare minimum. Swimming does a much better job of avoiding obvious scheduling conflicts like this-- that's how Phelps was able to win eight golds in one Olympics. Just set it up with 100, 400, 1500 and 10000 the first several days and 200, 800, 5000, 100(110)h, 400h the second several days! It's not that complicated!

What does she mean that her talent is 'on the lactic part' ? Does that mean that she is really good in running through exhaustion?
@DexterGordon-dr8qd6 ай бұрын
What she means that she normally is not the fastest in the first 200 meter, but then makes the difference in the second half of the race where others lose power because of the lactic acid build up in their muscles, while she can keep running better and faster, because A.) she has less lactic acid build up and also B.) because she can keep running with lactic acid in her muscles...
@maanvis816 ай бұрын
@@DexterGordon-dr8qd Thanks for the explanation!
