If the Go Plus had a leak-proof lid and design, I might consider buying one for my trips in general, since carrying the original Aeropress in its nylon bag is not the most optimal solution XD I like the hidden paper filter storage and the fact that it all fits inside the tumbler, kinda like a Lego set for us coffee nerds haha

I think the reason why the Go Plus might have been a little stiff is that it is new. It also happens when it is not used for a good while, so rinsing the plunger with hot water usually softens it.

Yeah, you are right. I mentioned in the video too. A little unstable feel when pressing into a tumbler was actually more negative point.

The main "miss" for me on the Go Plus is that apparently the Flow Control Filter Cap is too big to store inside the Go Plus when packing it for travel like the regular Filter Cap. Otherwise, it seems like a neat version of the AeroPress!

Oh, good point. Not using the Flow Control Filter Cap often so didn’t even consider it including in the video.

not optimal that youtube is not communicating the generated translated audio track. if i hadnt known from another youtuber, i would have assumed you did some cheap ai generated video over some other guys content or something (it played in ai generated german)

I am a huge fan of the original travel Aeropress. And I also love the original original size scoop. It just works. People don’t seem to notice enough that every single detail of the Aeropress has been not only thought about but ENGINEERED. I will be getting a glass Aeropress soon. Really want the business to continue for decades to come.

Is the paper filter storage at the bottom waterproof. I'd be disappointed if the paper filter gets wet when I clean the tumbler.

The premium isn’t for me but I can see why people would like it. The go plus is absolutely stupid and I cannot imagine ever using it. It’s not smaller than an aeropress, adds loads of weight and the cup can’t even be put in a bag. I’ll take the original aeropress go every time. It’s my daily driver and take it when travelling

I have a very old Aeropress and I'll say the weakest link is the rubber plunger because it degrades and hardens.

I bet the extraction was weak on the tumbler. You can see at 7:15 that you've spun the grounds up into a dome, so the water would have bypassed the grounds.

Most aren't in my experience. If it's got a lid that just has a sliding plastic sip hole it's going to leak.

I wouldn't dismiss it completely - it's insulated so it can keep coffee warm during a short commute (unlike Go). You can think of it as a Keep Cup alternative.

Is the Aeropress creator still associated with the company and involved in the new products? I remember reading that Aeropress was bought by someone who put a lot of VC money thats why they are just creating products that are people asking for and also some just to compete with the competitors.

Actually, when we were filming with Mr Adler the documentary, two versions they had in mind back in 2017 were a premium glass version and compact travel version. For the first AeroPress Go he was still involved AFAIK, these new updates are obviously without his input.

@EuropeanCoffeeTrip I remember watching the documentary. Alan seemd like he had the best intentions with his products. The Aeropress XL and other iterations clearly lack his input. In addition to this they no longer include the funnel, storage bag and 365 filters with the original aeropress. The current state of the company is pretty grim.

Aeropress was made with the intention of making good quality coffee at home. Cheaply. What's next? Filters that only work with specific models?
