Thank you for this video! What's your take on using a compressor on the kick? A lot of people claim it is essential for modular kicks.

Sure, that's a thing, too! 😁👊 I don't have many compressors in Eurorack format at this time, but I do like to sidechain the kick and bass when I can these days (been awhile since this video was made, Haha...) either using the WMD MSCL compressor in side chain mode or by creating a side-chain-shaped envelope with XAOC Zadar and using that to control the volume of a VCA to create a sort of side-chain effect against the kick drum as well. 👍

@@Chris-qq7mt I haven't really felt the need to compress the kick itself when generating kicks with modules. I think it also depends on what *style* you are trying to make specifically, I mean if you're trying to make the ABSOLUTE MOST HARDEST TEKNO POSSIBLE for example, you might need compression on your kick more than me... Hahaha (Although I find that loads of DRIVE goes a Loooooong way to make TEKNO kicks crazy huge as well.....) I've got loads of modular music here in loads of genres with no compressed kicks (Although I do use kick *samples* sometimes that I suppose already have some compression on them...
