I watched until minute 3 and i couldnt resist but make a huge patch on my modular 😝 thanks for the inspiration, i based everything on the kick and got some crazy sounds with feedback modulation, delay, and FM on filters, oscillatord and lots of random 🥴

Love it. I always appreciate the detail with which you discuss your options, even if you don't use them in the patch. Still learning so much watching your stuff.

Absolute monster of a beat, man. You've shown me I need more filters, lol. Also, I like the shortened intro, gets straight to the point. It did seem a liiiiiiittle long, so this is a good change, imo.

Highly inspiring, thank you! I recently kicked Belgrad out of my case for space reasons, but I think after this I'll have to give it another chance in my rhythm section.

So my Belgrad did the same thing, @1:00 when you sweep it, it has this wiggly kind of sound, instead of being a smooth sweep. I always thought this was just how this thing worked, and it didn't bother me because I mainly used it to mangle drums and make a ton of noise with it. But after seeing someone do a smooth sweep, I contacted Xaoc and they told me it's actually the symptom of a worn out potentiometer. I send it in for repair and now it sweeps so smooth! Just wanted to let you know! Nice video! I'm enjoying the Cookbook series!

Damn, I learned so much on this one! Love the feeding back of the reverb, the subtle ramping of the delay. Funny you mentioned the marbled hats. I remember those liquid hats. Marbles is my newest module. So happy with it. Such a tool kit and playground. Awesome video!

I have been looking for this tutorial since I first got in to Eurorack. You’re a life saver, this is fantastic. Absolutely amazing use of Pam’s, the new logic functions make patching rhythmic bursts really easy as well, it’s a truly self-contained complex sequencer now, even for melodies. I’ve used the same rhythmic dry/wet spring verb modulation on my Koma Fieldkit FX with a Moog DFAM with similar effect - thank for you this!

Dang dude, I haven no idea how you got that noise to be so snappy for the clap! Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who triggers stuff with my finger when I pull the patch cable out.
@KindStranger3 жыл бұрын
I used a more exponential VCA response, combined with a snappy shape it kinda overdrives the VCA and makes for a nice thwack.

the quadrax is great for drums innit. when doing claps i like to use the pulse burst to get three or four quick thwacks out of a single envelope

That's a great idea. I haven't really got into the burst mode yet.

Actually the clap you make sounds more like a snare to me. I’ve had great succes patching a relatively fast square LFO to the VCA and VCA that LFO using a fast envelope. You then get what you do but instead of a single envelope it give you a fast series of snaps that sounds like a clap :) I really like you video’s btw, learned a ton!

It's so daunting approaching a module, trying to do some kind of definitive deepdive, which is why I chose the recipe format. Lets me dip into a few of the things I know without pretending I know it all. Any specific questions tho? I have been thinking of a deep Pam's dive...
@borisborisov5003 жыл бұрын
@@KindStranger hey man, I hear you. Showing people the ways that you use pam's wouldn't come across like you're a know it all. It's more to just get the juices flowing by seeing how other people use it. The reason I mentioned it is because in this video, you already used it in interesting ways. And I'd bet you have a few more tricks up your sleeve 😁

Hew Drew, great video as always, will be sharing it later! :) PS: I've been a bit apprehensive of the Quadrax because of the button combos. What's your take on this? You seem to be having a good time with it...
@KindStranger3 жыл бұрын
As someone who is not a fan of button combos (biggest Mutable bummer for me) I find it to be a pretty good system. I just use 2 combos: reset modulation for a channel, or for all channels. Mapping cv ins to functions (including attenuverting) is surprisingly straightforward and I think they did a great job with it. I do wish they'd made the shape knobs fullsize though, I'd be happy to give up another 2hp to do away with those tiny pots.

did you build your ms-22 filters?

I built one of them, but I got the kit with all the SMD stuff done so it was just through-hole components
