Cav's 3rd is encouraging? Pops off his Trek leadout with 100m to go, clear sailing, and gets beat by 2 guys, one who came from 6/7 bike lengths in the last 50/75 meters. That's not encouraging, that's when you know it's time to quit. Taking him to the TDF is a joke!

Wow third place and a microsecond is enough to retire? What a cruel world cycling is.
@davidjames3080
@davidjames3080 Жыл бұрын
What about the other 140 guys who didn't win? Had they might as well go home as well? If it was up to the likes of you, TDF would consist of 12 riders. 4 who've got a realistic chance of winning the GC, 2 with a chance of winning the points jersey, 2 with a chance in the mountains and 4 for the sprints. Guys like Cav get written off all the time by armchair fans whose greatest sporting achievement was coming 4th in school sports day. He timed the sprint wrong as he thought he just had to beat Pederson. Milan also timed it wrong. Another day he'll time it right and then he'll be the greatest thing since sliced bread. Such is cycling. If Cav thought he had no chance of winning then he wouldn't be there.
@isitrachelorj3953
@isitrachelorj3953 Жыл бұрын
@@davidjames3080 David, if Cav is not there to win a sprint handed to him on a platter, what good is he - besides being a celebtity tag-a-long like Frome last year. He is not a domestique, doesn't jump into breaks, can't/won't lead out another sprinter, what would be his function? You do understand that cycling is a team sport with 5/6 guys going all in to support their designated "winners", be that GC, sprints or climbers. Those other 140 guys are all doing their job brilliantly, Cav is not. Astana would be better served bringing a rider who has a chance of winning from a break or supporting a high places rider on the GC (top 10). I'm not an armchair fan of any rider or any team, I love cycling when it's done well, Cav is not doing it well, and because of that neither is Astana. Use your brain, think before you comment - I did, as I hope you can understand from my explanation.
@davidjames3080
@davidjames3080 Жыл бұрын
@@isitrachelorj3953 Are you not going to comment after today's win for Cav? 'Using your brain'? You must be joking, you would need to have at least half of one to make such a comment. Your tongue seems to get a lot of words in before your brain engages. Would be nice to see all you doubters and negative people own up to their negative and incorrect comments, but I'm guessing you're asleep in your armchair after your Sunday dinner.

Sad how fans (including UK commentators) keep talking up Cavendish's chances. He is nowhere near winning a stage even in a reduced bunch sprint mid way through a Giro missing the fastest sprinters. The TdF is going to be painful as commentators and fans big up his chances and he finishes out of the top ten when it matters. It sullies his fantastic legacy to be talked up like this when he's so obviously past it.
@davidjames3080
@davidjames3080 Жыл бұрын
'Nowhere near winning stage' is a bit dramatic when he's crossed the line in front of the favourite, Pederson, and is less than a wheel behind the winner. On another day he would have won it, timing is everything as a sprinter and he didn't quite time it right coming from behind Pederson. Pederson or Milan didn't win either and no-one is talking about them being past it. When he does win a stage of either the Giro or the TDF it would be nice to see you comment then, but I suppose then you'll be saying how lucky he was or how badly everyone else performed.
@davidjames3080

Guessing you're not going to comment on Cav winning today's final stage? Or are you going to come up with some lame excuse that all you negative comment bottom-feeders seem to do, that all the sprinters were tired, or they let him win, ow the sun was in their eyes. just inset your own bull.
