As a computer and network technician, I can totally reassure you, that plugged in cables and connectors in fact do change locations over night without any kind of human interaction. Depending on where you live, it may either be faerie circles, leprechauns, energies from waterveins or just a disturbance of the force. It is simply a pain, to go through all the wiring, searching for what has been messed with, includung checking all the stuff that hasn't been messed with and to check if it really hasn't been messed with. Great diagnostic and I'm sure, this won't be the last electrical excorcism we have seen on this car :)

As a network engineer who dealt with system replacement and rebuilding unreliable rats-nest racks of servers slapped together by impatient Microsoft certified and college graduate "engineers" I can assure you that the better things are labelled and documented, and not touched by incompetents, the fewer the number of mis-connections are needed to be fixed by good technicians. Whatever was "saved" by having a doofus work on this VW, was lost on wasted owners time and Pine Hollow fixing what was screwed up.

@@psdaengr911 I guess you may have an issue with MCSE certified individuals. As a holder of such a certification, people always treat me the opposite of what I hoped in life. But hey, documentation and labelling goes along way for those coming in fresh/those with a poor old memory like mine.

I'm going with someone tried to install/fix the stereo, blew a fuse, got frustrated then began swapping fuses, forgot where they were and just left it. May not have been the owner. It also goes the other way. The information you impart may have nothing to do with the problem and lead the mechanic down the wrong path. EricO has had this many times.

someone fat fingered that 5amp into the wrong area. then they started chasing the fuel pump. fuel lines still had the fuel in them from when they originally misplaced the 5amp for you to fix that then run the car till the fuel lines emptied/lost pressure. so now part 2 coming to see why they pulled that 5amp fuse! probably till point to why the other fuse is 25amp when it shouldnt be. people love solving blowing fuses with higher amperage. I mean what could go wrong putting a 25amp in???? hopefully they have a fire extinguisher in the car and the source is hittable lol otherwise that will be a lovely scent of burnt toast in its future.

Interesting analytics again. Top job since you are no VAG specialist.... albeit I do not like the word EUROTRASH.... The typical story with these cars is, DO NOT mess with them if you have no clue... VW techs have some serious training plus need experience to fix these cars. Regular workshops can never fix them properly with regular tools... or should invest your kind of Sherlock Holmes diagnostics and spend the time to figure it out like you do... respect! Most dealers do not invest nor the time nor the training to properly educate their dinosaur technicians. A VW is for sure more complex than any US GM product but there is logic in the madness 🙂 PS... ALLDATA is nice but revisions are not always up to date or complete. I refer to the VAG databases, but I understand you cannot have all the subscriptions.

It is a shit of a thing when going to diagnostic a car which has been previously messed by others, so you don't know what they did or broke. Also a problem added when the owner doesn't say all the story or know what the previous "technicians" did. Takes more time than normal to find all this messed things for sure. But at the end, if you find them always is a good point on the owner that sees you are a competent tachnician. Well done Ivan, great job. Too bad they didn't write notes like you do. They could have applied the 2 hours to whatever the real problem was. Ivan could you give another video on the several electronic service tools pro and cons featuring the Launch Diagun 4, snapon verus (not sure I got the right model), Thinkcar, and and any other model diagnostic tablet you used.(did you use an autel model?). I do appreciate how kind you were to the guy when they self inflicted their cars comatose state.

I have no patience for grown men who have wives, families, jobs, houses, life responsibilities that dictate that the game playing a 12 year old child's, Speak no, See No, Hear No, Do No denials are any part of a healthy mental disposition. I don't mean that I myself personally turn into an impatient person emotionally, just that my scope of this "Man-Child" and the way that I address them Adult to Adult changes considerably. I now focus into the phycological Adult-Child relationship such as I'm an adult here raising someone else's kid. I've passed over more than 65 years of life.... I also own a public relation business and I have met so many, many "Man-Childs" in my life over the last 20 years that I honestly do not believe it myself and one thing I have noticed is over 95% of the time... these "Man-Childs" are all of a specific age, gender, race, country and social class. I'm not being prejudice or racist or anything... matter of fact, they are the same race I am.... The denial of mature responsibility by these man-childs is absolutely beyond imagination.

These kind of cars have to be a mechanics worst nightmare. Fuses out, wrong fuses, plugs unplugged, and who knows what else is coming. The worst part is no one knows how it got like that.

Ivan, you have a very cool head. Troubleshooting problems caused by people who are clueless in fixing cars is enough to go crazy. He should of told you everything he had touched Before you even started! Perhaps from now on you need to query the customer before starting your diagnosis.
