EUROVISION 1969 - Lulu, Salome, Lenny Kuhr, Frida Boccara - Eurovision Song Contest 69 Madrid

The Eurovision Song Contest 1969 was the 14th in the series. Four countries (the United Kingdom, Spain, the Netherlands and France) won the contest, the first time ever a tie-break situation had occurred. However, there was no rule at the time to cover such an eventuality, so all four countries were declared joint winners.[1]
France's win was their fourth. France became the first country to win the contest four times. The Netherlands' win was their third. Spain and the United Kingdom each won for the second time. And it was the first time that any country (Spain, in this case) had a winning ESC entry two years in a row.
The surrealist Spanish artist Salvador Dalí was responsible for designing the publicity material for the 1969 contest as well as the metal sculpture which was used on stage.[1]
It was the first time that the contest resulted in a tie for first place, with four countries each gaining 18 votes. Since there was at the time no rule to cover such an eventuality, all four countries were declared joint winners. This caused an unfortunate problem concerning the medals due to be distributed to the winners as there were not enough to go round, so that only the singers received their medals on the night: the songwriters, to some disgruntlement, were not awarded theirs until after the date of the contest.[1]
Had the later tie-break rule been in place (the country receiving the highest score from any other country, as used in 1991), the Netherlands would have won, having received 6 points from France. United Kingdom would then have been runner up, having received 5 points from Sweden. On the other hand, with the present tie-break rule been in place (i.e. the song receiving votes from the most countries, then the song receiving the most high votes in case of another tie), France would have been the overall winner, with Spain in 2nd place. Both countries received votes from 9 countries, but France received 4 points from 2 countries whereas Spain received 3 points as their highest vote.
A common urban legend on ESC forums and festivals is that just prior to the show, Laurita Valenzuela, the presenter, asked the producers what would happen if there was a tie. The producers assured her that "such a thing would never happen".

En esta edicion con 4 ganadores, tenia que haberse hecho un desempate. Frida Boccara interpreto una excelente cancion y Lulu un tema pegadizo. Italia, Portugal y Suiza se merecieron mejor puntuscion. Inolvidable la entrega de premios con Massiel.

La más hermosa para mi fue la de Monaco, Mamá un bello sueño tuve ayer. Este footage está filmado en cine 16mm color, traspasado digitalmente a video. Sin embargo la emisión se hizo en televisión color sistema PAL/SECAM de 625 líneas de resolución, la calidad de esa transmisión era algo muy similar en colorido a este filme que vemos. La primera transmisión en colores en Europa se hizo 1967, transmitida desde Alemania, país creador del sistema unificado de color denominado PAL,(phase alternate line) por su parte Francia desarrolló un sistema que se conoció como SECAM (sequencie à menorie). Prwfiero esa época que la actual. Agosto 27, 2022. Saludos desde Santiago, Chile.

@@ouiouipekpek Ce n'est pas une raison: dans un concours, il ne peut pas y avoir quatre pays terminant à la première place d'autant plus que dans le cas actuel, les chansons des quatre pays étaient certes bien différentes, mais il y avait de quoi les départager. Selon moi, on ne pouvait hésiter seulement entre la France et les Pays-Bas. Les chansons espagnoles et anglaises étaient pas mal mais en - dessous du niveau des deux autres.

This was one of the first songcontest i saw and it was great some very nice songs, i wonder who of these singers are still singing or still alive. Frida Boccara died in 1996, LOIS nEEFS FROM bELGIUM ALSO DIED. All i know is that The dutch singer Lenny Kuhr still sings, i go often to her concerts. Erik Lulu (United Kingdom) recently did a tour with Take That (back in April) and is still very much active in the music business. Yes, Lenny Kuhr is still active, too, releasing an album just this year. Salomé is still alive, but in her late seventies and is presumably retired, as I haven’t been able to find current information on her.

De 4 winnaars hebben allen een totaal van 18 punten. Tegenwoordig wordt gekeken bij gelijke stand hoe vaak een land het hoogste aantal punten heeft gekregen.Tegenwoordig 12 punten, in 1969 kennelijk 6 punten. En dan is te zien, dat Nederland als enige land 6 punten ( max score) van een land gekregen heeft. Geen van de andere 3 landen ( Spanje, UK en Frankrijk) hebben 6 punten staan op het scorebord. Naar huidige maatstaven zou bij gelijke eindscore, Nederland de enige echte winnaar zijn!

Franco no era primer ministro de España. Era un general dictador que tenía sometido al pueblo español desde 1939. Y la presión que este individuo podría hacer a nivel europeo, dudo mucho que tuviera alguna incidencia, ya que escasamente, España, había salido del bloqueo económico al que estaba sometido por los países de la OTAN y el Mercado Común, a cuyas organizaciones no pertenecía. Sí era miembro fundador del festival de Eurovisión (RTVE), pero lo mismo que Italia o Alemania. Es más, no creo que Franco, con todo el poder que tenía dentro de España, tuviera más poder en Europa que De Gaulle y Pompidou, juntos. Lo que pasa es que la desinformación maliciosa es mejor para atacar lo que no nos gusta y valorar lo que nos gusta.

Mais Isabelle Aubret est arrivé 3è en 1968 et même si Franco a fait pression pour faire gagner Massiel la représentante espagnole, il ne faut oublier que le grandissime favori était le célèbre chanteur anglais Cliff Richard et sa chanson "Congratulation". Donc c'est le Royaume-Uni finalement deuxième qui aurait dû l'emporter et l'Edition de 1969 aurait dû avoir lieu à Londres

@@Idk-mm2ts Muy de izquierdas serían pero cuando se trata de comer a muchos no les queda mas que callar. Por lo demás lo único que tenían que hacer era su trabajo, no propaganda a Franco y su pandilla. Los regímenes totalitarios cuando necesitan espectáculo para entretener a la masa, no se fijan mucho tampoco a quien mandan al escenario con tal que se mantengan de bajo perfil, sin hablar inconveniencias. En Chile la dictadura de Pinochet "soportó" a varios que no eran sus partidarios por que simplemente no tenían donde mas sacar talentos para rellenar números en la televisión y otros medios. A cambio , como digo, éstos talentos disidentes debían mantenerse callados si querían seguir trabajando y no terminar en una mazmorra - si tenían suerte.

Mi favorita era Lulú. Ganó con otras tres. La francesa Frida, bellísima y la española una gran basura, con je je je, que parecía una corrida de toros. Le cayeron los votos que dan al que lo celebra. Y la que más vendió Jean Jacques con Maman, de Mónaco
