Here's my Top 41 for Eurovision 2019, the end of one hell of a decade for the contest.
And copyright's getting difficult again, so we have to go blurry :(

2019 was my GCSE year, so I wasn’t really following the contest that well. I did tune in for the final that year, and boy was I disappointed. 🇩🇰🇲🇰🇪🇸🇨🇿🇲🇹🇧🇾 were the only entries I actually cared for in the final. Thankfully the standard of song in 2021 and 2022 was *much* higher.

I'm not sure how well 2019 aged over time, even though I watched it twice now. Both songs and production are pretty good; for the latter, I liked the intros for the shows and the Eurovision history mashups. At the same time, I can't really say this was a better year than 2018 songwise; while I'm happier with how my favorites turned up for 2019, 2018 had more entries I consider as "favorite songs of all-time". My top ten (honorable mentions to MLT, CZE, ESP, PRT, AUS, AZE, LAT and ISL): 1 pt: ARM 2 pt: ROU (I'm glad to see someone who really enjoys On a Sunday! It has to be one of my favorite Romanian entries ever) 3 pt: NOR 4 pt: SUI (I actually like this song! It's really well-polished and a really fun bop. And it's also amazing to see Switzerland succeed again in the contest) 5 pt: SRB (also happy to see you like Kruna! Nevena has become a beautiful swan with just as pretty song) 6 pt: HUN (this was the NQ I missed the most in the final! While less experimental than Origo, Az en apam is just as sincere and is really touching. I love the heartfelt lyrics and calming instrumentation) 7 pt: GRE (I think Better Love was Greece's attempt to be more alternative, which worked to some extent. The staging was really pretty, but a bit excessive--an opposite of that from the previous year!) 8 pt: SLO -- I've heard varying opinions on Sebi, but I find it a serene and intimate song. The lyrics are really touching and deep, and the sonic atmosphere is really touching. In addition, Zalagasper create their own universe on stage, and that's all they really needed. 10 pt: ITA -- I prefer Soldi to Arcade by quite a margin, even though the latter is quite good. Soldi has a good rhythm and pulsating lyrics, which lets it float above the rest of the crowd. The clapping parts add to quite the earworm, which could've made waves had it won. But hey, it's a great song! 12 pt: ALB -- We were so close to having the same winner! Ktheju Tokes won over me when it was first released for FiK; it's so haunting and tribal and epic all at once. The revamp helped it out a bit, but the essence remains with the dark instrumental and melancholic lyrics. Jonida's vocals are also so beautiful, and her dress really divine. Probably the best Albanian entry ever. P.S. I'm so happy you made it this far in your project! And if you're still taking requests for the "number of times a title gets mentioned", could you do one of either 1990, 1997, or 2018?

This year means quite a lot to me, cause it was the first year I watched while knowing about the existence of the Eurovision online community, which made me more invested than ever. The year itself is also very good quality wise in my opinion, with a lot of songs that I enjoy. This was production-wise also a really good contest. 2019 was a good year imo (although I may be biased cause it was the most recent Eurovision when I got introduced to Eurovision). Next is my favorite year of all time (mostly because Think About Things is my favorite Eurovision entry ever by a long shot), 2020! Also, could you do 2020 for the "ranking by amount of time singing the title" series if it isn't already in the shortlist? Oh and my winner for 2019 is Switzerland or Iceland, can't decide.

I love North Macedonia. Tamara deserved her jury victory. I don't get why so many think she is overrated. Beautiful ballad and strong voice. I also think Austria was quite underrated. There was just something about the calm and simple vibes that I loved. And about the blurry video, yeah, the EBU can be very strict about copyright. I uploaded a video of me watching the televoting result at this year's ESC final. Even though I didn't show the screen, the only thing visible was me and I had the sound on, the EBU decided to block it. I know the sound is also copyrighted, but I found it weird as I have not heard of anyone else who have problems with reaction videos.

Even if I don't agree with some choice, I love this top again. I agree that Replay is better than Fuego, my favorite Albania is your second and I really love Serbia, North Macedonia, Romania and France too. And I can't deny how catchy the belarussian entry is!

I like your rankings and you have interesting opinions but what really annoys me are the parts of the song you decide to put in the video. Why putting a boring side verse in and not the chorus and then it stops right before the chorus. Why? (Armenia is a good example)

Armenia's a very interesting example there, because that's actually my favourite part of the song. I generally put in clips of parts of songs that I particularly like when there is one, and I also generally try to have some variety in the places I clip songs. I always find it a bit dull watching two of someone's videos of a year back-to-back and they use exactly the same clips, and I don't think the verses get enough love. I try hard to make sure the clips don't end in the middle of a line either, only cutting lines or bars in half if it's getting way too long.

That was my point with the comment. I could have the "but" but there's really nothing I don't like about it. I only have positive thoughts about it really, and I like it enough to get to about 20th place.

The copyright is quite severe this year, like with 2008 and 2016, so without the blur the video gets blocked. I'm honestly not sure how everyone else gets their tops up fine, I still haven't figured that out yet.

@@eurovisionconnor It's most likely because the copyright stuff isn't as strict in all countries. Some countries sadly have a tougher time, while others have no problems with it.

2019 was hit or miss for me. The hit was the music. great collection of songs. The miss ws the production. I understand it was a new network in Israel but come on! Israel is a gadget loving country. Poor camera work ( Estonia and Poland ), big problems with the voting ( Belarus jury, North Macedonia not getting her glory) and all the focus on Madonna. With Madonna, the production forgot the artists and the contest itself! It didn't help that her vocals were NOT autotuned and the political protests that were included in her performance. At least Iceland followed through with their threats and did protest ( I still don't condone it ). And the hosts were either not proff or full of themselves ( esp. the one talking about his coming out.. OK but back to the program dude!) And even though Australia took a mediocre song and really elevated it with the staging,the production ruined the fantasy by showing the swinging stands they performed with! So the songs re an A- and the production a C-.
