Somehow I missed the flag ceremony that normally opens the Grand Final of Eurovision each year. This is how Tel Aviv welcomed the world. Watch until the end to see Gabby officially make her debut.🐶💚✌️

One of the most beautiful opening ceremonies! The singer you didn't recognize was Ilanit, the first Israeli participant in 1973 (4th place), with Ey sham, which she sang. She participated again in the first ESC I ever watched, 1977, where she got 11th.

I was totally excited once I heard the opening strains of the late Ofra Haza, former Eurovision representative (1983), and her vocals for her worldwide hit "Im Nin' Alu" which is a Jeweish-Yemenite poem as the plane made it's way into the arena!

Great opening overall! Netta should be a pilot on the side haha. Israel didn't disappoint this year with honoring all four of their Eurovision winners throughout the three shows, as well as artists (Ilanit , Israel's first Eurovision contestant in 1973 and Nadav Guedj who both performed in this opening). The artists going through an airport idea was pretty cool. Their country's flags were the little wand things that were being waved like a toy when they entered and then they were projected up top.
