I personally don’t feel too excited about Loreen returning. Don’t get me wrong - I love her and the song is just incredible but I come to Eurovision to see new artists potentially get a lot of recognition. I also want new sounds, new concepts and I feel like it’s just not surprising and weird enough for me to be super hyped about it winning
@listonheinz9103 Жыл бұрын
It’s not a a show for unknown artists only, I don’t get where that idea comes from? This year is the first time I’ve heard that kind of complaint about an artist. I think it’s refreshing with a straight pop song, I think many entries tries way too hard to be weird and different, quality in voice and composition is secondary for them. That kind of approach doesn’t impress me.
@PauloCesarLira5 Жыл бұрын
Have you ever heard her song Statements? I think it's from 2017. A massive fanfavorite but didn't do well in Melfest. I wouldn't be bothered at all if she had brought that song to ESC and even won, because it was different from her previous entry. But I cannot dissociate Tattoo and Euphoria, they have the exactly same elements to me. And I don't like the same type of songs winning, imagine how I feel about the same type of song by the same artist for the same country!!! No way I like her, I like the song, I like the staging, but if she wins it will represent a lack of originality and ambition in my eyes, Europe will clearly vote for the safe choice

@@PauloCesarLira5 Sending the same song has worked like a charm for Ukraine in 2016 and 2022. Did people complain as much in 2022 as they do know? I find that most hardcore fans can’t stand Sweden no matter what they send. Those fans seem to find reasons to dislike and criticize any song/artist to fit that overall feeling for that country. Just go into any ESC forum and read the posts, most people really, really dislike this song. If you say you like it, you get downvoted and roasted. Many people in those forums often complain about Tattoos bland and mediocre lyrics, and at the same time praise the Finnish entry as the best song this year, a song about drinking Pina Colada’s and pouring champagne over oneself, spoken in a language they don’t even understand. Square that circle.

Israel song explaind: It is not a song about Noa (or another female speaker) and not a song about a human relationship. This is a song about Israel in front of the world. From the beginning ("Hey, you don't like the way I talk / Hey, so you stand aside and call me names / I'm not your enemy"), through genes and DNA, the old stories, tradition, history repeating itself and writing a new book. In short, the speaker in the song describes herself as an ancient figure, standing on her own, rare, almost experimental. They hate her, she goes against the haters, offers to open a new page and calls herself a unicorn (in hi-tech - a privately owned company that has exceeded the billion dollar value). unicorn Lucky she didn't call herself Startup Nation. It's a song in which you can imagine the State of Israel sticking a finger in the face of BDS activists or those who encourage the erasure of Israel. There is really no significant political statement here - that's all there is. A finger in the eye, but elegant, because, as mentioned, on first reading (and without a lot of political or geopolitical awareness) it is actually a poem about feminism and female independence, questions that everyone is in favor of by and large, so there is some sophistication here, which is nice.

One thing I think you left out about Norway: The staging will likely massively improve. NRK was really putting MGP on a tight budget, but it feels like they're investing more in Eurovision. They've promised changes because they're "coming to win in Liverpool" including LED screens, new dancers/choreo who sing live at the same time as dancing, a new outfit, a staging "theme" of "going from darkness to light", might even slightly revamp the song itself, etc. Point is, it'll probably look a lot more well-produced and expensive than it did at MGP. So while Swedens staging might actually decline in quality (since there's been the drama about Loreens LED sandwich), and Finland according to interviews will stay roughly the same... Norway could end up being the surprise of the "big 3" Nordic countries. It might truly become competitive for the top spot.

"tra la la chants" can be awesome though if done right. also you might be surprised by how deep those "chant" songs can be if you put some thought into the lyrics. but not every song has to have a deeper meaning anyway to be good, some are just fun and enjoyable and thats great

Nice video! I agree with almost everything you wrote. My only doubt is about Norway: I think it's too Eurovision "heroic style", like Rasmussen, destined to be appreciated only by the most fond of this style and I hardly see it entering the musical circuits outside Esc (but maybe I'm wrong). I also think that opening the vote to non-European countries could be of help to France and Spain which, besides having beautiful songs, could've the support of many countries where their respective languages are spoken. I partiiculary cross my fingers for Serbia, Czechia, Spain and France. Finally, thank you for having included Italy but, honestly, I don't think we have many chances, for the reasons you wrote, but I appreciate that.

Eurovision is showtime, meaning songs are usually made for that. But would you say for instance that the entry from Spain would be much played if not for Eurovision? I doubt it. Or for instance Italy with Marco or even Israel or least likely Mae ? Maybe Ireland would be played when the boybands were big, We Are One sounds like Westlife! But you can't just say Norway's entry is the only that is "just Eurovision". I could that Norway our country this year has made a very complete song for Eurovision I can see that, but it is not genre-less, it is in fact very modern, electro meets drums and metal and edm, but it is very genrecrossing which makes it interesting. Unofficial remixes of the song take it to the disco direction with sped up beats, but for the older generation of course such is too modern. Nowadays, Eurovision has younger audience than before.

I don't know who will win (I'm often flabbergasted LOL) but I can tell which my favorites ones are: 1- Norway - "Queen of Kings". I want this song to win so much. Because I love the song immensely, I love the particuliar voice of Allesandra, the show is amazing and -as an actress this is something that really does something for me- she's not just living the song she's acting it in every way. She's a queen and she's a fierce warrior. And finally this is her first song. First song and she already got so much stamina and confidence with an epic song (because I never get too much epic music)??? Go girl! You're my queen! - Germany - "Blood an glitter". What can I say? I love metal and glam rock and the voice of the singer is so great. So I know this one is pretty low ly considered, but hey! I Love it! - Sweden - "Tattoo". Actually I didn't like Euphoria as much as this one that has a lot of atmosphere. Pretty solid song, great voice too. - France - "Evidemment". I've been raised with French people so their culture is basically mine and I love how La Zara made a competely French song with even some Edith Piaf hints here and there) and mixed it with some pop. Plus, woaw, she has a strong voice in the final! - Switzerland - "Water gun". I know it's another song that won't probably get to final, but I like it. The singer has a very good voice, the text is beautiful and the oerall result suits me a lot. - Moldova - Okay, I can't write the title yet. LOL But I think it's my "ethnic" song for this year. Very different, very druidic and tons of atmosphere.

Austria is definitively on that list now too it has this viral quality while also having some depth to the lyrics. Also I do not think it will struggle like Halo did last year. Pia Maria is an emerging artist who was paired with a really vocally demanding song while Who the hell is Edgar is much less demanding vocally and Teya&Salena are both more experienced artists. At the same time I think that Italy and France really have no chance of winning at all, they are solid entries but everything about them just creams 7th to 15th place in the final

I actually agree with many commenters saying this one is between Finland, Spain and Sweden and maybe Czechia. Sure Norway's song went viral but the hype is mostly over by now and while Alessandra is a real sweetheart and has an incredible voice, I don't see it placing better than place 3-5. Spain's song is great but I worry about the song being too "artsy" for Europe and her vocals seemed a bit shaky imo at benidorm fest. Also I think they need to massively improve the staging& camera. Czechia has similar problems, the song is quite "artsy" and I think this will be very hard to stage. Sweden: it's Loreen and she's a pro. Her staging might cause problems (I hear the ceiling thing is super heavy and might not work in Liverpool) and if social media is any reliable fan reference, then actually quite many fans are not particularly happy she decided to compete again. Additionally I don't think tattoo is that great of a song and she WILL be measured against euphoria (a masterpiece). That leaves us with Finland. I first thought he might be too "loud" for most older people but when I heard that even my MIL and my mom like it (MIL is an opera fan and mom likes radio playable music), I rested easy in this regard. I think Käärijä's challenge will be the staging. His umk staging was okay but looked rather cheapish, I feel there is tons of room for improvement. Also I'm unsure how the juries will react.

This is by no means a comment to be rude or anything but I seriously don't understand the hype around Loreen. I like the song (very near my top 10) but I don't see it as a winner. I actually have multiple songs in my top 10 that not only I don't see them as winners but I wouldn't want them to win either. I just think that there's nothing outstanding about the song in itself. And it's even worse knowing the almost cultist ESC fans treating Loreen and her song as a deity or something. Sometimes I'm genuenly asking myself if people actually see it like they say they do or they're just trying to fit in with the rest of the fans. If I'm talking about winners I feel like Spain is the only one that gives me the vibes of it. Other than that maybe Finland (which is actually my 1st lol), but even with Finland I have my doubts. Maybe also Czechia or perhaps France, but that will depend on the live.

If you want to fit in with the Eurovision fans, then just automatically hate whatever Sweden sends and copypaste things like "overrated/generic/they've already won so they don't deserve it" over and over, then you'll fit right in, because that's what they tend to do _every_ year.

I have mixed feelings about Loreen. Yes, the performance is amazing, beautiful and impactful. But, it feels like she's "taking away winner spot from others" by returning so strong another time around. But also, she would make history as the first double entree to win Eurovision. Like, I don't want to root for her, but I know many people do and will. I know her show is great, but still.

@@duckage926 But she will make it a tie between ireland and sweden both 7 wins
@SupaahAQW Жыл бұрын
I don't see why it's unfair and an issue.. There has been plenty of artists showing up in eurovision more than once, hell even Johnny logan has won more than once for Ireland and no one seems to call that unfair. Coming back as a past winner or not only gives the audience an advantage in the sense that you know what to expect the from them a second time. Loreen even competed in Melodifestivalen (competition for Sweden before Eurovision) a few years ago and she didn't even get to the final. I would even say that it could almost be a disadvantage because once a winner return with a new song, people will compare the song to the old song that won and even though the song is good, there would a good chance that people would be disappointed or judge it more because the song just isn't as good as the old song. If a past winner comes back with another great song, then why wouldn't a country send that person? It's a competition afterall.
