Eurovision movie: Fire Saga special with director David Dobkin and Molly Sandén in Húsavík

"Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga" has forever changed the town of Húsavík in Iceland. So we've partnered with Visit Húsavík to share some behind the scenes footage from Húsavík.
American journalist Tara Hitchcock chats with David Dobkin, the director of the Netflix Eurovision movie, and our William Lee Adams interviews Orly Orlyson and Leonardo Piccione from the Eurovision Museum. They share some of the most fascinating and unusual items in their collection. We also hear from Molly Sandén, the singer of the Oscar-nominated song "Húsavík (My Hometown)". She shares her experience of performing the song at the Oscars, and what it meant to her to be a part of the movie.

This movie touched my heart. It was way better than I expected. The theme song so deserved the Oscar nomination. The producers “got” Eurovision for sure. The sing off scene plus William got me screaming. I hadn’t been spoiled and I’m so glad I wasn’t. Good things happen to good people. You can feel the kindness.

Lars is a very common Swedish name, it's the third most common man's name here, but it's getting less common I think, since the average age of a Lars is about 65. It's been used since the 1300s, it's originally short for the latin name Laurentius. People named Lars is often called by the nickname "Lasse". Eurovision contestants named Lars: Lasse Berghagen (1975), Lasse Holm (1986), Lasse Edin (Edin-Ådal,1990), Lars Larsson (Arvingarna, 1993), Lars "Leari" Ljungberg (The Ark, 2007).

If they make a sequel, my number 1 question is what they will do with Dan Steven's character. I hope they don't just ignore what has happened in Europe. The film could turn out terrible if that issue is handled badly. And it could be decades before "the country that shall not be named" is back in Eurovision. What will Dan's character do then? Maybe he's not back in the film at all? Lots of things for them to think about.

A lot of Russians have left Russia, so perhaps his character settled down in another country, finding a husband, being happy and is now representing that country instead?
