"Dinle" is my absolute fave from 1997. It's on my list of best ESC songs ever, period. Like Ireland and the UK were fine that year but Turkey man... Turkey brought it.

OMG! 1997 is one of the best years EVER in ESC-history! I think that Eurovision WAS the best during the 90's. There are a lot of good songs but one of my all time favourites is Italy, Jalisse - Fiume di parole, I still listen too it! I hope you will do more of this and as the ESC-fans you are, you should post more from the 90's, because IT IS SO MANY GOOD SONGS THERE!

1997 was the first year I watched, apparently (aged 4), first year I have any memory of though is 1999. Sebnam Paker was the best.

Iceland was so ahead of it's time, they deserved higher as well as Cyprus and Greece. I didn't mind UK as a winner though.

We Turks are still heartbroken over our loss with Manga`s "We could be the same" against Lena`s Satellite. Of course, Lena was good but we think we were better. And it feels like that one is stolen from us

You did lose by 76 points so it wasn't exactly close. The UK has had so many 2nd places, we know what it feels like to have a good song not win. You have to move on. Manga were great, Sebnem was great, you did well. Now do even better.

I remember the 1997 contest really well, the last time my country hosted it after which almost became an annual event for us Irish...so many good songs that year - UK, Ireland (decent entry compared to what was to come in the 2000s from Ireland!!!), Turkey, Denmark (so bad it was actually good!), Iceland (controversial enough back in '90s Ireland) but my real winner that year was Italy which was the last Italian entry until 2011. Having said that I would really like for our neighbours the UK to win again or us Irish but most of our acts are not that outstanding in recent years, it could be decades again until our next win like Netherlands and Austria which won with brilliant entries IMO

I love the stages from the 1990's, except probably 1999, design-wise. To call them "simple" would be an understatement. How I would probably rate them: 1. 1995 2. 1996 3. 1997 4. 1993 6. 1994 7. 1998 8. 1991 9.1992 10. 1990 11. 1999

1997 was a great year, though I'm not a fan at all of Turkey or Ireland. This actually looks quite modern, given I was born on the other side of the 21st century. My personal points 1p Russia 2p Sweden 3p Cyprus 4p Croatia 5p Denmark 6p Estonia 7p France 8p Poland 10p Italy 12p United Kingdom
