Hehe... Steve Walsh of Kansas used to do handstands like that on his keyboard rig. HIs crew eventually rigged him up a steel grab-bar that stuck out in front of his Hammond organ for the stunt. :D

2 years too late for my comment, I bought a "Gear 4 music" version of this, 1/3 the price and from box to full erection (no organ jokes here) less than one minute. Nothing to screw or attach, the arms already in place, they hinge neatly for transport in the vertical column and the legs also hinge and store in the frame. The only difference being, upper and lower arms are the same length, lower arms could be longer and here is for why. You have to stoop awkwardly to see the synth display and buttons if the lower deck, so much for looking cool. However, had mine since 2010 and it carrys a Roland D-50 and more recently a Yamaha V-50, both metal cased 80's digital beasts that are quite heavy. But it's because they don't flex or bounce that the playing platform remains rigid. Anyway, from one Brit to another, I enjoyed this video with a cuppa and some toast and marmalade 😋

Like many things in life it looks best from behind... epic comment! I'm torn between this and the K&M Spider pro. The latter makes better room for some pedals and have the slightly tilted upper arms, but the Ultimate has the more iconic 80s look of the legs and a lower price. Will decide after the holidays.

Hi Espen!!! ...Hi Woody!!!! .... Hey guys, can you help me decide on a 3 tiered keyboard stand? ...I watched any videos I could find on the triple floor designs, but I am left with questions.... Woody, do you know if your stand in this video had an optional accessory shelf to add to the very top to hold a small keyboard? I've been using my table for my synths and a folding cross stand that i had for over 20 years! .... It's working great for me holding up my heavy CME synth, stable and all, however, I have now in my set-up 2 more synths, both are Minies (2-Octave System-1 and 3-octave JD-Xi)... The way things are right now are is that they are placed far apart from each-other, and I would love to Get my keyboards Set up on a Rack Stand system. And need to do this to help the space issue I have... I need some professional advice on these types of stands and the quality to price ratio...And my most sought after ability on these vertical stands is that i'm able to add and remove tiers at will! and Also, that I can position the grab-sticks so as to share a tier for the 2 smaller Synths. I'm not asking a rocket science question, but hoping for advice from whomever tried to sit two small synths on a single rack or tier along with the Normal, Big Guys, below. I've seen rock groups perform on tv and saw their keyboardist behind a stand of an 88-key on the 1st tier and a few medium sized Synths on a 2nd tier, and a single mini korg sitting on the 3rd tier, while the keyboardist played ALL of them switching from one instrument to another! :) This kind of thing is done on stages every day, but to me comes across almost taboo in how people react when asked this question... I couldn't settle with any information I got online, searching for a while. Maybe a more human approach might get me on the right path? If I had all the tubing necessary, and the elbow ties and such, I would have built one for myself long ago, but no one sells these types of parts... :( Hey guys, I depend on you! ...I love you, cheers and blessings to you and your families! You make the point that a four legged stand is the ultimate in being stable, however the portability and having 2 tier of the Ultimate, not to mention the aesthetic appeal is of benefit. I would modify the Ultimate by attaching 2 more legs or brackets, that do not distract from the aesthetic beauty. I do not want a bouncing keyboard, you will often see this on KZbin videos.

I want one of these again, but not this rounded model, rather the AX-48B, which has the original triangular cross section. The slidey things are cable guides, so you have a clean look from the front. If you want something even more cultish and exclusive, check out Invisible stands. One drawback to these Apex/Deltex is the legs get in the way of a sustain pedal.

No place for a Ketron k8 Midi Pedal to change chords. I have a problem with my left hand which gets painful when I play too long (urnal nerve). Even though I am not pleased with that Midi Pedal because it doesn't respond very well. Any idea about the efficiency of other devices? Guy ♫♫♫

Did you both 13” and 18” arms? Was there a noticeable difference with either inserting or removing the shorter arms? Are they more of a hassle?

you get two different sets of arms, one is longer and chunkier, both are good and no issues inserting

@@WoodyPianoShack I see. I assuming you really have to dig into the slot for the shorter arms when trying to take them out? I also noticed that you used a 73/76-key Nord on the top. A concern of mine are the dimensions of my 2 slim 88-key keyboards; 29.2cm & 22.8cm in depth, respectively. I fear they might not be as stable compared to an X-stand, especially when playing closer to the ends of the keyboards. Also, thank you for your video!!

@@abrahammartinez9431 no problem fishing out the arms. in general this type of stand is not as stable as the stands with 4 legs, one on each in corner, you are sacrificing some stability for a cool look. x-stands I don't normally use as I don't like the look, and they sometimes do not sit flat on the floow.

I thought about these stands however, I decided to go for Quicklok Z726L as there was a lot of money in keyboards going on there. Korg Oasys 88 and Korg Kronos 2, holds them beautifully and very stable. Would be inconsolable should a stand collapse with my babies on board.

Picked one up a few weeks ago - wife plays keys in our modern country covers band - definitely look the business and seem pretty stable with an XP-80 and a VR-09.... Speaking of which? You should pick up an XP-series to play with sometime. They're still one of the better Roland workstation keyboards around!

I had the Ultimate but didn't like the bounce and wobble. Seeing that I had over £6,000 worth of keyboards on it 2 x Korg Kronos I decided to buy the Konig and Meyer Spider Pro as it is more stable.

hi al, both racks slide up and down the entire length of the column (that phrase sounds really weird.... :o ) so no problem with height, but remember the higher you go the less stable and more wobble the column. maybe use a cool low wide-legged stance... :)

Woody Piano Shack did a little post on a major synth group on facebook and within hours it lit like a wildfire amassing 300 comments, uneven weight distribution, falling forward, arms breaking, top cover snapping off, worth a read! Despite my better judgement I ordered one, I think time will tell if i regret it! I’m a stagehand for arenas/stadiums and see them used every gig, my only witness is the rockiness on flat surfaces, carpet meshes it pretty well though. If you can look in the pictures of “synthesizer freaks” on the facebook page you’ll be able to see everyone’s opinion! :)

Woody Piano Shack some people are chucking hefty synths on them though so that could be an issue, I just hope it’ll manage my JP80 and Jupiter X. A lot of people are just using them for MIDI controllers and the occasional mono synth on top, having something as large on top would however give it a better center mass given the physics of it

Lol that's what's up man I have the AX 48 Pro as well except i have the one in silver great stand! it took me a little while to get the bottom stabilizer right because mine for the longest had a little bit of a wobble and lean to it but once I figured out that bottom stabilizer it's been right every since I'm using a Yamaha motif xf and a Korg Krome up top with mine...man I want me one of those Nords myself and will probably be my next board

i noticed that you have to really crank the thumbscrew with a large amount of force. Otherwise the tier can tilt alarmingly to the side when you playing the higher or lower octaves of the keyboard.

I bought an Ultimate Delta apex stand back in the 90s which is still going strong. It is an all metal construction whereas the newer models have plastic brackets which are known to crack so be careful that your keyboards don't crash to the floor. I have just upgraded my stands to the K&M Spider Pro which have a four leg base and allows more space to place damper pedals etc. Great to see a Brit doing videos, Im from Yorkshire.

This is a relly good stand - HOWEVER - once the top microphone bracket is installed and you have your mic set up it picks up every sound of the keys being played and it is so annoying.

yes, it would do that for sure, never attach a mic to your keyboard stand, or put mic stand on a desk with a aynth on it. mic on stand is pointless feature, just use a conventional stand on floor.
